The Cleveland Browns fans’ hearts sank when they heard the news that their star QB, Deshaun Watson, has been ruled out for the entire season. The reason? A shoulder injury that will take surgery to heal. But now it seems there’s finally some hope for the Browns. A veteran 15-season player is being called in.

Will the new player turn around the fortune of the Browns? The Browns are in a good position right now at 6-3, but with their starting QB down, it won’t be long before they start to crumble as well. The big move is set to infuse fresh blood into the Browns.

Dov Kleiman took to X to share, “#Browns will host veteran QB Joe Flacco, per @RapSheet. With the Deshaun Watson season-ending injury, the Browns are still looking for answers and Flacco might be it.” Skip Bayless also joined in on the conversation and chose Joe Flacco over former Miami Dolphins player, Dan Marino.

The Beacon Journal also reported that it was “just a workout” for now. Although, as Bayless said, he is a free agent, things are not set in stone yet. It may be that the Browns are just playing host to gauge prospective QBs. GM Andrew Berry had stated that after Watson was placed on injured reserve, he would be adding a third QB.

What has been Joe Flocco’s record so far?

Bayless on his podcast said, “He is not a Pro Bowler” and has a 99-81 record in the regular season, his post-season records stunned Bayless. He recorded 10 wins in 15 games and has a 25-10 touchdown to interception ratio. He has a Super Bowl championship under his belt and the Browns are hoping he will be able to bring some new energy into the Browns.

Cleveland said that rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson will be starting on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. PJ Walker is also on the roster. Even though he is more experienced, he has been overlooked for the Sunday game.  Flacco has recorded 42,320 passing yards and 232 TDs in his career.

Flacco, 38, most recently started games for the New York Jets during the 2022 season and led the Jets to an improbable fourth-quarter comeback in Week 2 in Cleveland that year. In that game, Flacco threw four TD passes, including the game-winner to Garrett Wilson with 22 seconds remaining. Has the savior of the Browns finally arrived?
