Jets fans are splitting up like never before, and it’s not just the usual game-day hype! The New York team’s being pushed hard to bring back Mike White after the Dolphins announced they’re cutting him.
ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter just dropped a bombshell: Miami’s letting White go. And guess what? Jets Nation is fired up and ready for a reunion. The Jets Muse account didn’t waste any time, retweeting Schefter with a big, bold plea: “Joe Douglas, pick up the phone.” It wasn’t long before fans chimed in, showing just how much they miss the former QB.

The fan reactions started rolling in hot. One fan’s hitting the nostalgia button with, “Come home sweet prince,” while another’s already mapping out White’s future role: “Would make a great QB3.” The excitement’s real, and it’s clear fans want White back in green.
But hello, it doesn’t stop there. The Jets’ faithful are pulling out all the stops. “Here’s your chance to right your wrong, Jets,” says one hopeful fan, clearly eager to fix past mistakes. Another points out the practical side, “People will laugh, but I’d sign him if I’m the #Jets. He would be the best QB3 in the league. Tyrod’s got an injury history, so backup protection is key. 🤷♂️”
And the chorus of support keeps coming: “7 starts for the Jets in 2021-2022. Would not be opposed.” Fans are rallying behind White, pushing hard for his return. The final shout-out? “BRING HIM HOME.”
Mike White, who started seven games for the Jets in 2021–2022, clearly left a mark. The ball’s now in Joe Douglas’s court—will he make the call? As GM Douglas weighs his options and fine-tunes the team’s draft strategy, it’s interesting to look at what’s going to happen next.

Joe Douglas’ draft strategy for Jets’ success
Joe Douglas is playing chess, not checkers. Before the NFL Draft even kicked off, the Jets’ GM was already making moves that set the team up for maximum flexibility. Seven promising rookies have arrived at Jets Drive for minicamp, but Douglas wasn’t waiting around to make his mark. He landed names like WR Mike Williams, OL Tryon Smith, OL Morgan Moses, and DE Haason Reddick before the draft even began. “If someone had said you’d have an opportunity to get Williams, Tryon, Moses, and Haason before the draft, I would have told you, you’re crazy,” Douglas told Eric Allen on the Official Jets Podcast.
The NYJ’s general manager didn’t stop there. He added QB Tyrod Taylor, DL Leki Fotu, DL Javon Kinlaw, OL John Simpson, and CB Isaiah Oliver. Plus, he re-signed four of his own free agents. These moves gave the Jets a lot of options heading into the draft. “We had a plan,” Douglas asserted. “And with the help of some great teammates—pro and college scouts, cap, analytics … everybody from video, training room, doctors—we were able to keep the main thing and avoid distractions.”
Rebuilding the offensive line was a priority for Douglas, especially with Aaron Rodgers returning after missing all of last season. Last year’s O-line saw 13 different combinations, which was far from ideal. With signings like Smith and Simpson and the trade for Moses, Jets’ GM showed he was serious about protecting his QB. The draft, too, was a chance to beef up the offense. New York picked 14 straight offensive players, including Penn State’s OL Olu Fashanu, after trading with Minnesota.
Douglas’s six trades during the draft allowed the Jets to snag running backs Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis and add defensive backs Qwan’tez Stiggers and Jaylen Keys. Looking to the future, he even traded pick No. 126 to the Lions for a third-rounder in 2025, saying, “That third-round pick has legit value for us.”
