Sunday morning was a bad day for the Baltimore Ravens, as they lost their OL coach, Joe D’Alessandris, forever.  Being a remarkable coach, Joe not only left his team but also left his family forever. Let’s take a deep dive into his family.

Toni Mayfield D’Alllessandris, the wife of Joe, was born in 1954, in Concord. After she got her bachelor’s degree in political science from Western Carolina University, she seemed to have shown a deep interest in tennis. In addition, Toni was also seen to be involved in different community services. And, she seemed to have enjoyed her days at the Third Avenue Charitable Organization in San Diego. Well, it’s evident that Toni loved her professional life. But her real source of happiness seemed to lie somewhere else.

Mrs D’Alessandris’s source of joy was in her family. Her family was comprised of her husband, Joe, 3 children, and 4 grandchildren. Her grandchildren were named Ella Murray, Maxwell, Mayfield, and Violet Thomas of Raleigh. Well, she seemed to have enjoyed a good time with her grandchildren. And that’s not all, as her daughters Anna, Kelly, and Emily were also happily married. But the happy family didn’t know what was coming.

Soon, Toni was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. She fought with the disease and lived for 7 years before taking her last breath. Joe’s wife passed away on 4 May 2022, while her family mourned her death. It seems like Anna, Kelly, and Emily had the responsibility to take care of their father then, which they fulfilled well.

Despite all the love and care from his daughters, Joe seemed to miss his wife too much. And he chose to join his wife after 2 years of her departure. Despite the sad news, the coach will be forever remembered by the NFL community for his remarkable contributions.

A closer look at Joe D’Alessandris

“Joe D.’ lived a life of boundless faith, love, devotion and inspiration. As a husband, father, grandfather, friend and coach, Joe made every individual he encountered truly feel like the most important person in the world,” was the heartfelt statement made by the Ravens while they praised their late OL coach. In addition, they praised D’Alessandris for his uplifting and genuine character, too. But that was not all as Joe was as regarded as “true to his character” by Sashi Brown. He was also regarded as a “fighter to the very end” as he fought for his life after he was hospitalized with acute illness earlier this week.
