The New England Patriots are fully committed to turning their team around this season. For years, Bill Belichick served both as head coach and the general manager of the team. Naturally, things are about to take a turn with the long-time HC no longer beside the team. They’ve now got a head coach in Jerod Mayo, along with looking for a new position holder to handle the managerial side of things.

In an urgency to find a new GM, the Patriots decided to reach out to Trey Brown, a former football scout for the New England side. He worked there for two years, between 2010-12. Brown also has a record of working as an Eagles’ college scout along with AAF and XFL before he joined the Cincinnati Bengals in 2021. Shortly after his joining, the GM saw his team reach the Super Bowl and he is still chasing the same high.

Now, recently, on being re-approached by the Patriots, the Cincinnati GM declined to sit down for an interview for the same. According to sources, he wants to stay with the Bengals to build a roster that will carry the team to another championship. The news about the senior executive personnel was broken by MLFootball recently. By the looks of it, Joe Burrow might face a huge surge in his morale because he has someone around him who is committed to rebuilding the Bengals in its best image.

Since Bill Belichick’s departure, Eliot Wolf, the Patriots’ director of scouting, has been at the controls of the team’s personnel department. Earlier in January, Robert Kraft mentioned that he’s looking to promote someone from the organization to take after Belichick but hasn’t reached a conclusion yet. However, he’s not ruling out any external variables at this point.

With Wolf, the New England retained offensive lineman Mike Onwenu, TE Hunter Henry, Kyle Dugger (S), DT Christian Barmore, Joshua Uche (LB), and Kendrick Bourne (WR). Also, the WR K.J. Osborn and TE Austin Hooper were also signed in the spring.

With all the changes that are going on in the Pats organization, Brown chose to stick to the Bengals to provide Joe Burrow with a better future. Brown and his team did a lot of heavy lifting in the off season and amassed plenty of player to approach the new season.

Trey Brown is fixing the defense gaps for Joe Burrow and the squad to succeed

In the 3 days of the NFL Draft, the team signed the tackle Amarius Mims, DT Kris Jenkins and McKinnley Jackson. The team also got CB Josh Newton of Texas Christian, the DE Cedric Johnson, the safety Daijahn Anthony and the center Matt Lee. These players should be enough to cover the field when Joe Burrow is not playing.

For when Burrow gets the opportunity to take snaps, they will be surrounded with the new TEs Erick All and Tanner McLachlan, along with WR Jermaine Burton as well.  Trey Brown also re-signed Jake Browning, who did a phenomenal job of handling the Bengals after Joe Burrow’s season ending injury.

Browning played 9 games and gathered 1,936 yards and 12 touchdowns in that span. Burrow played 10 games, had 2,309 yards and 15 touchdowns in the season. It might just be safe to assume that when Burrow returns healthy, he will encounter a healed roster ready to tackle the new season with vigor.
