With just five games left in the season, Joe Burrow is eyeing for a couple of goals this time. One, being in the struggling phase with 4-8, the QB will try for the playoffs contention; and second, to get an award at the end. Uh, no, we aren’t talking about the Super Bowl here – though that remains his ultimate destination.
The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow recently appeared in the media, where the reporters asked him about his thoughts on – would the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award be meaningful for him. To which he quipped, “Very much so.” He continued further, “I’m not sure there’s ever been a two-time comeback player of the year. It’s not exactly an award that people want to be up for but, you know, I found myself in that position and so that one would mean a lot to me.”
Joe Burrow tore a ligament in his wrist and underwent surgery last year. Due to this, he missed the final seven games of the season. But this year, as he came back, the Bengals’s quarterback is reportedly leading the NFL with 30 touchdown passes and 3,337 yards. Indeed, it’s a great comeback!

So, that means, Joe Burrow is on the verge of making history. If he takes home the Comeback Player of the Year award again, he’ll be the first player to win it twice with the same team. Moreover, with this, he can join Chad Pennington as the only quarterbacks to win it twice. His first win came in 2021, after leading the Bengals to the Super Bowl just a year after tearing his ACL.
However, this competition isn’t easy, as now he’s up against two other quarterbacks as well – Kirk Cousins, recovering from an Achilles injury, and Kyler Murray, coming back from an ACL tear. Cousins has also given a good performance this season, helping his new team to sit on first rank in the NFC South. On the other hand, Murray is on pace for a great rushing season, with 428 at present. So, could Burrow, after coming from wrist injury, make it two in a row? Well, it remains to be seen. Until then, Joe Burrow has another plan!
Joe Burrow wants his fans to be happy!
During the same presser, another curious reporter asked what impression he wanted to leave on the national TV audience. And guess what he replied? Joe Burrow was clear: “I want to win. But I want to be fun to watch. I always want to be fun to watch. I want people to see my command of the offense and accuracy and playmaking ability and everything that I bring to the table.”

Joe Burrow knows that fans tune in not just for the victories but for the excitement his team brings to the field. He wants people to see the Bengals and think that they want to watch them, and he takes immense pride in it. So, all in all, for Burrow, it’s all about making an impact, not just in the game but in how the game is played.
The next game of the Bengals is against the Cowboys on Monday, December 9.
