With a 30-24 overtime win over the Broncos, the Bengals have stayed alive in the season. They now have an 8-8 win-loss record. But if Joe Burrow & co. need to qualify, different things need to be in line. Starting with their win over the Steelers in the final game, they need all three, the Broncos, Colts, and Dolphins to lose theirs. Even after that, they need to take their winning percentage above 0.500.

During the post-game conference, the Bengals QB had a clear message for the front office. While talking about the remaining season, he said, “All we can do now is go control what we can control and you know try to get a big win next week.” Their season has been crazy. It’s a miracle that they are not eliminated from the season yet.

Even against the Broncos, they scored a touchdown with 1 minute and 29 seconds remaining. And Bo Nix led them to equalize with 10 seconds remaining. It took a 30+ yard pass from Joe Burrow to Tee Higgins. His role in the win was instrumental. He made the catch, ending in the game-winning touchdown.

The QB was also happy with the win. He acknowledged the contribution of his teammates and added, “When you have so many guys step up big for us and have so many great balls go out, that’ it’s a great feeling.” He’s right. One thing the Bengals need to work on is their precision. They can’t ignore Kicker Cade York’s missed field goal from 33 yards. His kick hit the left upright and went out.

They also need to know the extent of the right ankle injury of Chase Brown. In his absence, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins need to take responsibility. It’s high time.

What’s your perspective on:

Can the Bengals pull off a miracle and make the playoffs, or is it too little too late?

Will Tee Higgins get a contract extension?

The big question is still looming. Tee Higgins is over after the season. Thankfully, their season is not over yet. Speaking with reporters after the game, the WR Ja’Marr Chase hoped that the receiver would get an extension and said, “If that was his last game in this stadium, he went out with a bang. But that’s a big if.

A couple of weeks ago, Joe Burrow had also said, “I’m confident we are going to be able to do what it takes to bring Tee Higgins back. That would be great if he is back. After week 17’s heroics, the Bengals management would like to talk to the receiver about his contract.

If the franchise qualifies for the playoffs, the chances of his contract extension will go up by leaps and bounds. In 10 games in 2024, he had 58 receptions in 727 yards with 7 touchdowns. So, the fans also hope he represents them again. But we need to wait at least until the middle of January. For now, everything depends on the last game. It’s interesting.
