Aaron Rodgers made a new friend in Sauce Gardner when he joined the New York Jets. The cornerback welcomed his new quarterback with an iced out No. 8 chain, marking a good friendship between them. However, when it comes to competition, it seems Rodgers isn’t leaving his friends too.

The 2023 season didn’t go as expected for the 40-year-old. After his rehabilitation and recovery process, Rodgers is set to enter the season this time. And for that, he is attending his OTAs very seriously. However, there’s something that his friend Gardner feels frustrating about the quarterback.

In a latest episode of Green Light with Chris Long and co-host Macon, Sauce Gardner joined the podcast to talk about the Jets season outlook, the most manipulative quarterbacks in the league at present, and how it feels like to play against Aaron Rodgers at OTAs. To the latter question, Gardner replied, “Man, it’s really frustrating sometimes cuz he don’t really give you too many opportunities to intercept him.” He continued, “So it’s like if he does and you miss that opp, you gonna be so frustrated because you never know when you gonna get the opp again. Like he might give you an opp the first week of OTAs and then you don’t get the next opp to OTA number six, OTA number seven…..he’s been playing this game for a very long time. He has seen every look. So he’s so confident in himself and that’s one thing I get from him.”

Praising A-Rod’s ability and confidence, Gardner highlighted that for A-Rod, age doesn’t matter, as he still has powerful arms. Next, when Gardner was asked to name some players who he thinks does a great job from snap to release of the ball, and in manipulating a defense, the 23-year-old cornerback first named A-Rod, before mentioning Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen and Joe Burrow. According to him, these are some of the players who are manipulative on the field for the defense group.

No doubt that these quarterbacks have proven themselves from time to time and have posed a threat on the gridiron for their opponents. As the new season begins this September, we will see who manipulates the opponents the most and tops the chart. Will anyone be among Gardner’s list or will there be a new addition in the powerful quarterback list? Whosoever will be, one good news this season for the Jets’ fans is Aaron Rodgers will be back.

No. 1, we’ve always got a chance.” He added, “And No. 2, more than that, we’re one of those, you know, half dozen to 10 teams that can actually win a championship this year.
