The Cincinnati Bengals and their fans are eagerly awaiting the return of their star quarterback, Joe Burrow, who played college football for the LSU Tigers and Ohio State Buckeyes. He missed a significant portion of last season due to a wrist injury that required surgery and is all set to come back on the field.

Former NFL cornerback Darius Butler recently shared some concerning insights on The Pat McAfee Show about Burrow’s potential recovery. Butler, who underwent the same wrist surgery, expressed doubts about Burrow’s ability to return to his previous form.

Concerns over Joe Burrow’s recovery

Butler said, It’s gonna be interesting to see how Joe Burrow takes these falls after that wrist surgery. I had the same surgery and I’ve lost at least 50% of the movement on that wrist.” This revelation from Butler raises questions about Joe’s durability and whether he will be able to perform at the same high level as before. Losing significant movement in his wrist could impact his throwing ability, accuracy, and overall performance on the field.

Joe’s injury was a torn wrist ligament in his right hand, his throwing hand, which adds an extra layer of concern for his recovery. He appeared in just 10 games last season before the injury ended his season. The Bengals struggled without him, finishing last in the AFC North, but still managed a winning record of 9-8. His return is highly anticipated because it could turn the Bengals back into Super Bowl contenders.

However, Joe Burrow has given fans something to cheer about by returning to the field for practice. Since his injury, Burrow has made significant changes to his lifestyle, particularly in how he takes care of his health.

Burrow’s commitment to health and recovery

He has adopted a new diet aimed at improving his overall well-being. Burrow shared his thoughts saying, I’m eating more; I’m more dialed as far as nutrition and food schedule and eating when I need to.” Joe has been working hard on his recovery, focusing on throwing and building muscle for over a month now. Cincinnati’s strength coach, Joey Boese, is fully supportive of Burrow’s new diet.

Burrow has been very open about his progress this offseason. He said, “We’re bigger. Definitely bigger. We’ll see where I’m at at the end of the offseason. I feel good about where my body is right now. I’m going to continue to get stronger and bigger throughout the offseason and just play it by ear, depending on how I feel.”

Burrow’s efforts to improve his health and stay injury-free show his dedication to the game. His determination is evident as he works tirelessly to avoid another season cut short by injury. With training for the 2024 season still 10 weeks away, Burrow has ample time to fully recover.

As he continues to prepare for the 2024 season, Burrow’s efforts are a testament to his dedication and passion for the game. Fans can look forward to seeing a stronger, healthier Joe Burrow leading the Bengals in the upcoming season, despite the concern Darius Butler has outlined.
