Is Justin Herbert truly the 'Beast' Harbaugh claims, or is it too soon to tell?

Jim Harbaugh‘s addition has truly charged the LA Chargers locker room. The biggest example of transformation is their QB, Justin Herbert. Following his epic performance against the Titans on Sunday, Harbaugh gave him the nickname “Beast Herbert— half man, half beast” and now has made some bold comments about the 26-year-old QB.

In the latest episode of the “Pat McAfee Show”, HC Harbaugh labeled the young QB as “one of the greatest of all times”, and said that he needs to be protected. He added, “It’s like being around greatness…everybody on the team sees it like hey man let this guy right here just let him finish a throwing motion. He is going to do incredible things. Let him. Maybe that’s the one thing I’ve added I can recognize”.

The guy is special. Let’s all agree on that. Just halfway through his fifth season at the NFL and Herbert already has 1772 completions in the NFL, becoming the player with the most completions in their first five years. He is one of the physically gifted QBs in the NFL and is known for his powerful and accurate right arm. However, during his team’s SNF clash against the Tennessee Titans, Herbert was a completely different beast, using swift movements, he was 14/18 for 164 yards and a touchdown, while he also used his physical strength to avoid a fumble and a Titans’ touchdown.

Well, seems like coach Harbaugh has someone special in his hands maybe at the SoFi Stadium, who seems to have what it takes to become one of the greats in the world of football. The Chargers are currently at the second spot in the AFC West and will host the Bengals for their week 11 clash next Sunday. And as we move closer to the end of the season and the fight for the playoff spots gets more intense, the HC would surely hope for more such performances from the 26-year-old QB to help his team qualify for playoffs.

Not just Jim Harbaugh, but it seems that the fondness mutual between Justin Herbert and the Chargers HC as the QB named HC Harbaugh is one of the main reasons behind his current success.

In the post-game interview, Herbert said that Harbaugh has a huge impact on the team as a head coach and all the games, the practices and the meetings with him have been very useful. The QB added, “He’s done a great job. I just try and make right by him. I do everything that he teaches us and coaches us, and want to make him proud.” The 26-year-old further mentioned that the HC’s vast experience in football has been a key and as long as they attentively listen to him, the Chargers would only go in the “right direction”.

Have an interesting take?

Harbaugh’s addition to the team surely has been a positive one. Since the start of the season, they have just lost 3, winning the rest 6, and are quite a dominant side in their league. With almost 9 more games to play in the regular season, surely they can qualify for the January games as things stand under Harbaugh’s leadership. But will he be the one to end the Chargers’ wait for their first Super Bowl?
