The Jets are grounded this season, with no clear path to take off. This underperformance has sparked increasing frustration, both on and off the field. Amid rising tension for the NY Jets this season, Sauce Gardner is a new entry in the social media dilemma. That’s right folks, the 24-year-old cornerback has confirmed deleting social media again following the Jets’ disastrous 31-6 loss against the Arizona Cardinals.
Following the Sunday game loss, the 24-year-old CB took to Twitter (now ‘X’) to vent his frustrations. But things didn’t go as planned for him and turned into a public relations mess. Gardner quickly deleted the post after it attracted intense backlash, but the storm didn’t end there.
He was further scrutinized after a leaked DM, that sports personality Mikey O’over shared on his ‘X’ account. Amidst the fallout, Gardner attempted to explain himself: “But I did delete it, but I had to install it for something, and I went down a little rabbit hole.” While the scrutiny on Gardner may be fresh, the Jets’ season was already spiraling before the loss to the Cardinals.

The dispute between Aaron Rodgers and Mike Williams had already stirred up this week. It all started when the Jets’ veteran QB criticized the former Jets’ WR for a route-running error inside the redline against the Buffalo Bills. Now, it was his debut for Pittsburgh Steelers and Williams might have wished to score a touchdown on the redline, and guess what, the wish was granted.
Right after his game-winning touchdown against the Washington Commanders, Williams hit social media to take a shot at Rodgers. However, the Jets’ QB responded with laughter and said, “I like Mike, I’m happy for Mike”. That must have made Gardner make an extreme decision to not get dragged into social media drama.

The current NFL season isn’t going too well for Gardner, who was a standout in his first two years. The 24-year-old has already caught heat for the Jets’ ‘costliest‘ missed tackle, which some say was a big reason for the loss. “Yup I’m 100% sure me missing that tackle at the beginning of the 2nd quarter for a gain of 17 yards was the costliest miss, and that is in fact what lost us the game,” said Gardner on ‘X’.

This decision of Gardner following the poor performance of the team is a clear move to focus on what’s ahead. With the playoffs on the horizon, Sauce Gardner and the Jets are under pressure to flip the script and prove they can still make some noise this season.
As far as this season goes, everything for Jets’ is amiss whether trading Williams to Steelers or making statements on social media. With the current score of 3-7, the playoffs hopes for the Jets are looking shakier than ever. If things keep going this way, it’s going to be a rough road to January for them.
