Aaron Rodgers came as a messiah to the New York Jets when he made the switch from the Green Bay Packers last year. The Super Bowl MVP had 475 passing touchdowns, 59,055 yards, and only 105 interceptions in his 18 seasons with his draft team, which is nothing short of impressive. However, a season-ending injury in the very first game crashed all hopes for the Jets fans to the ground.

But things are looking up for the Jets this coming season with Rodgers’ expected return. The veteran QB has undergone surgery and hopes to return to the field in full form. Not only are the fans excited about his return, but the Jets’ owner also voiced his enthusiasm for the coming season with Rodgers.

The businessman fleshed out the aims of the Jets going into the coming season, which is simply “football.” Johnson stated that the focus going forward is going to be winning games, with Rodgers set to have a proper start with the team. “We’re concentrating on football,” said Johnson. “Yeah, it’s just football, football, and football. We want to win games, and [we’re] getting Aaron back.”

Johnson further revealed how Rodgers is exhilarated to return to the field and has been restless to get going. The owner also feels that it’s going to be a unique experience for the veteran quarterback, as he comes after recovering from an injury he had never dealt with before.

“I know he’s excited to be back. He’s roaring to go,” Johnson said, referring to Rodgers. “it’s going to be something really interesting to watch now. It’s going to be -new and different, I think, for him having gone through this -this injury which you [have] never been injured before.”

Rodgers had ruptured the Achilles tendon of his left leg within less than 2 minutes of his debut game. Fans, teammates, and the QB himself were disappointed with the mishap, with the owner likening the situation to “having your arm chopped off,” as per the NY Daily News. So, with the veteran finally back, what does the rest of the Jets’ roster look like ahead of the coming season?

While fans’ expectations with the Jets came to an early end last year, the optimism seems to have returned for the 2024 season. Apart from the much-awaited return of their quarterback, the team has seen some interesting new additions this offseason. Moreover, Green Gang has the 10th overall pick in the draft, which opens up a plethora of options for upgrading their roster.

The general manager, Joe Douglas, and head coach, Robert Saleh, have been targeting the offense line, fixing all holes before the team walks onto the field. For the tackle spots, the team got free agent Tyron Smith as the left tackle and traded Morgan Moses for the right tackle position. Though Smith has been struggling with injuries the past few years, if all goes well, the former Cowboy can prove to be the much-needed permanent fix to the LT spot.

Another pressing need was a reliable receiver. While Garrett Wilson has been consistent, an additional hand was needed to support Rodgers post his return. The Jets finally found the right fit in veteran Mike Williams. The former Los Angeles Chargers WR could combo with Wilson and provide the much-needed assistance to their quarterback. Finally, after Zach Wilson couldn’t cover up Rodger’s absence last season, the backup QB might be traded, especially with the recent addition of Tyrod Taylor to the same position.

On a lighter note, the Gang Green are also getting new uniforms, which will include a ‘Legacy White’ update. As for their 10th overall draft pick, the Jets might go for an easy safety or tight end to give the finishing touches to their roster.
