Is the Rodgers-Adams duo the magic the Jets need to turn their season around?

Giving into the narrative that the New York Jets are seeing a resurgence is a hyperbole. But on the upside, Davante Adams caught his first touchdown as a Jets tonight. With this 21-13 win against the Houston Texans, people are starting to buy what the 4x MVP is selling. More importantly, we finally saw some Green Bay flashbacks tonight.

A-Rod and 1-7 picked up the pace in the fourth quarter when the Jets were sitting on a 14-10 lead. Rodgers threw a 37 yard dime to Davante Adams and it landed right in his hands. It was almost magical. We know Adams can always get open and that was the case this time. While the QB-WR duo makes it look easy, HC Jeff Ulbrich says that wasn’t a fluke.

“That’s a relationship that’s way deeper than the three or four weeks they’ve been together,” Jeff Ulbrich said, pointing out Davante Adams’ premature exit from the Las Vegas Raiders. The WR had 7 receptions over 91 yards and a lone touchdown. He did a small interview after the game and talked about playing with Rodgers.

Maybe Adams returning to his true for is because of the fact that he finds the Jets players to be “resilient” and feels motivated. The Jets receiver joined Scott Van Pelt after the game and the anchor asked him about his connection with Rodgers after he completed his 77 touchdown with Rodgers as a QB-WR duo.

“They are always trying to throw different stuff at us but just being on the same page [with Rodgers] and already being able to anticipate what he’s thinking, that obviously gives us little bit of an edge against any defense,” Adams said and admitted that he wanted to be “an accessory” for Rodgers and keep up the consistent plays. All that “anticipation” came in the fourth quarter and the game was pretty boring and scoreless in the first half, except for one Joe Mixon TD.

Have an interesting take?

Things got interesting in the third quarter and even better in the fourth one. Garrett Wilson probably made the catch-of-the-year with that 26-yard pass from Aaron Rodgers. What a dazzling play to watch! As it happens, Rodgers doesn’t have to get on the same page with his HC and his receiver and make up some “two score” lead story this time.

Aaron Rodgers talks Davante Adams

Before we address the A-Rod-Davante Adams’ connection, the Jets QB said something interesting in the post game presser. He talked a bit about Jeff Ulbrich and how the decision to make him a head coach might already have been in the pipeline for a while.

“Jeff’s been really steady, & it’s been a few weeks in the making, but I told him after the Tae touchdown, ‘that was for you buddy,'” Rodgers said after throwing for 211 yards and 3 touchdowns in the win against the Houston team. “Few weeks in the making” sounds like someone knew Jeff Ulbrich was about to become the HC but we’re just spitballing right now.

Well, whatever it is, the New York Jets got a much-needed win and they now stand 3-6. But the road to victory is a steep mountain that Rodgers and his teammates have to climb. That’s the only way to reach the playoffs this year.
