Since last year, Aaron Rodgers has been in the news. First, it was due to his trade from the Packers to the New York Jets. Then, it was due to his Achilles injury, which he experienced during the fourth snap of his debut game with New York. And in the later part of the year, he was at the center stage with people speculating whether he would return this season or not, amidst his retirement talks.

However, in the middle of all these, another surprising turn has taken place regarding A-Rod. As per the reports, the four-time MVP has been considered one of the top favorites for a running mate of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is battling for an independent presidential ticket this year. Although none of the parties have confirmed any of the names, the announcement date is nearing soon and the Jets and their fans are awaiting further updates. However, the American commentator, Jesse Watters, humorously broke down the rumors or potential reality of Rodgers’ political entry.

Jesse Watters from Fox News discussed rumors about a potential political partnership between Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the Jets’ QB Aaron Rodgers on his show “Jesse Watters Primetime.” He talked about the possibility of Rodgers being considered for the role of Vice President alongside RFK Jr. and mentioned that ESPN was excited about the story because it would bring in high ratings, and they could talk about politics without any issues. Watters further stated that RFK already had support from American-African viewers, and adding Rodgers to the ticket could further boost their chances but might hurt Joe Biden’s chances.

Additionally, he joked about how Rodgers’ return to training camp with a political campaign could be interesting. He expressed, “Rodgers blew out his Achilles on the fourth snap of last season. Imagine his return to training camp this summer as RFK, Jr’s running mate. Now, if Kennedy-Rodgers wins the White House and the Jets are in the playoffs, would the Secret Service play O line?” suggesting a playful contemplation of the logistics of such a situation. He continued with hilarious comparison, speculating, “What do you think’s harder? Debating Kamala or beating the Bills? Well, you probably have to prepare more for the Bills, but Rodgers doesn’t even have to campaign. He just shows up to practice, throws a few touchdowns on Sunday, and answers twice as many questions from reporters.”

Upon further breaking down the rumors, Watters speculated about the influence of such a ticket on the election, suggesting that Kennedy-Rodgers might play spoiler or might have the real chance of winning. He concluded his statements by mentioning that many people would be interested in such a ticket just for fun.

So, if Rodgers and Kennedy win, will the quarterback play for the team and run the presidential office?

Some people found this VP candidacy amusing initially because Aaron Rodgers and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. share similar views on vaccines. However, it’s uncertain if Rodgers could actively campaign while playing for the Jets. Kennedy plans to announce his running mate on March 26 in Oakland, California, and there doesn’t seem to be any Jets’ schedule conflicts that would prevent Rodgers from attending the announcement. Additionally, Rodgers isn’t required to report to Jets’ headquarters until late July, giving him some time to campaign with Kennedy. However, training camp starts in July.

This means A-Rod might miss crucial campaigning time because of games, practices and other team commitments. The election date is on November 5, right in the middle of the football season. Furthermore, besides these challenges, the first VP debate is scheduled for September 5, conveniently close to Jets’ headquarters. If the four-time MVP decides to pursue the vice presidency, the Jets might recoup some of the money they owe him.
