Is Aaron Rodgers right to downplay mandatory minicamps, or is he setting a bad example?

Are the New York Jets in “complete disarray” because of Aaron Rodgers? You know about the off-season drama with A-Rod missing the mandatory training camp. Then, when he came back, there were rumors about the 4x MVP having an altercation with his receiver Garrett Wilson. So where are those narratives now? The Jets are 2-1 now and there aren’t enough praises for them compared to the amount of off-season slander. To that end, Aaron Rodgers took to The Pat McAfee Show and discussed the dynamics that he has with his team.

The rift in the organization was debunked during a game against the Patriots and Rodgers, for one, hilariously thinks that these absurd headlines are spun by Haason Reddick’s agent. In a segment of the show, McAfee pointed out some slanderous headlines that surfaced in the off-season that indicated a cracked locker room relationship. Then, he went to play of video of Jahlani Tavai suplexing Breece Hall to the ground and how O-Lineman John Simpson came to his rescue with a brawling intent during the Pats game.

The clip was then followed by Allen Lazard coming to A-Rod’s rescue when Keion White tried to stir something up. Still not convinced that the Jets stick for their own? Well, Rodgers silenced the mainstream media narrative even though he admitted that he didn’t read the article and went on to say that mandatory minicamps are not important. “I think you realize how ridiculous some of these off-season storylines can be. Is anybody talking about minicamp anymore? Does anybody feel like that’s an important contributor in the season? The answer is no. It shouldn’t, because it’s not,” Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show, pointing out his dominating performance in last week’s game against the New England Patriots.

We got glimpses of vintage Rodgers as he threw lasers, scrambled to get yards, slid on the ground, and showed everyone that he was back to his usual self again. Hard to believe that he’s so athletic at 40 years of age, no? Aaron Rodgers didn’t only beat the Jets 27-3, but he also threw for 281 yards and 2 touchdowns without throwing a pick. The Jets now stand 2-1 in the AFC East with the Buffalo Bills ahead of them. But before pointing out the absurdity of the media, Rodgers took some shots at Haason Reddick’s agent.

Aaron Rodgers makes the joke of the day

Again, the Jets QB pointed out that he didn’t read the article from The Athletic that hoped to prove that the Jets’ locker room bond is in shambles. Instead, as explained above, Rodgers nullified the “absurd narrative” and tried to diffuse the situation by taking shots at Haason Reddick’s former agent. “I would say the culture is about the opposite of what that article would say. I didn’t read the article, but just reading the headline there, sounds like it was written by Haason Reddick’s agent,” Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show and everybody started cracking up.

Haason Reddick was acquired by the Jets during the offseason from the Philadelphia Eagles. Shortly after, he found out that he wouldn’t get the pay raise that he was hoping for and started holding out from the training camp. He even missed the season opener game against the San Francisco 49ers. Reddick doesn’t want the $14.25 million he’s slated to earn this year and wants a deal that’s in the ballpark of what Chris Jones makes, reportedly. He even forfeited $800k after missing the season opener against the 49ers along with the millions of dollars in fines that he racked up since August.

Haason later requested a trade from the Jets, but GM Joe Douglas doesn’t have any plans to do so, saying, “We have been clear, direct, and consistent in our position.” Do you think Haason Reddick will join the Jets roster anytime soon? Also, what do you think of the crazy stories spun around Aaron Rodgers’ absence? Let us know down below.
