Aaron Rodgers might be the New York Jets’ QB on the field. However, during the off-season, the 40-year has proved to have a wide array of interests apart from the American sport. Most recently, he wound up at the Kentucky Derby, where he was made to answer a few rapid-fire questions about his love for horses.

In a post on X, Saturday Night Football shared a clip of the Jets star at the annual event. While the quarterback had been accompanied by his NFL Packers crew previously, this time he chose to go alone. In the clip, Rodgers was asked what he would name a horse if he were to ever get one.

Immediately, the 40-year-old responded with, “Corey Linsley, because that boy’s got stamina.” When asked about what he would be on his equestrian team, he said, “Owner for sure.” While it was unexpected, Rodgers had ended up paying tribute to his former teammate as they had both played for the Green Bay Packers. In fact, they had even built quite the unspoken bond with the 32-year-old having snapped to the 4 time MVP more than any other center on the team.

With Linsley being put on injury reserve in 2020 after a knee injury and Rodgers playing for the team for nearly two decades before his switch to the Jets, the two ex-Packers players had definitely spent a lot of time together.

Corey Linsley explains his relationship with former teammate Aaron Rodgers

Just a month before Corey Linsley joined the Los Angeles Chargers as a free agent in 2021, Aaron Rodgers shouted out the center in hopes of going up against him on the television show, Jeopardy! Although his conversation with the Los Angeles Times had made it seem like the former teammates had an amazing relationship, the 32-year-old begged to differ.

In an interview with the Chargers’ website, Linsley stated, “What he’s doing is, he’s talking up the competition. You never want to give anybody bulletin board material!” The 32-year-old continued that Rodgers was giving him respect by saying, “Corey is really brilliant. There is no one I would want to beat more if we were both contestants than Corey Linsley.”

He’s mostly saying that so when he smokes me on Jeopardy!, everybody can look at him like he’s Einstein,” reasoned Linsley. Although that battle of the wits ended up remaining a fantasy, the Chargers star could not help but recall the debate-filled offensive line dinners with his former team and teammates that left him with a sense of brotherhood.
