Does Mike Williams' success with the Steelers prove the Jets made a mistake letting him go?

This was a golden opportunity… some games you win in the NFL, and some games you give away. This was a giveaway.” Aaron Rodgers was seriously frustrated in Week 6 after a three-point loss in the close game. The most targeted member of his criticisms was Mike Williams. The New York Jets quarterback called out to him for running in an “in-breaker” instead of sticking to the red line.

Nevertheless, tensions already heated up, which eventually led the WR to exit Gang Green to join the Steel City. But that doesn’t mean this move ended the playful banter. After receiving a 32-yard go-ahead touchdown pass from quarterback Russell Wilson, Mike Williams reportedly took a subtle dig at Aaron Rodgers on social media.

The WR captioned one of his recent posts by saying, “Thankful #WholeLotta #WeBack #RedLine.” Hmm, “RedLine!” Williams arguably didn’t leave his chance to troll the four-time MVP. Hence, during a press conference, when curious reporters asked Aaron Rodgers about the appearing troll on him, the 40-year-old simply said, “I like Mike, I’m happy for Mike.”

Although Rodgers admitted that he hadn’t seen the post yet. However, he felt “that’s funny” for him when Williams added the “RedLine” hashtag to his post. So, that means, after all the scrutiny, the “Oppenheimer of football” is now happy for Williams and his gameplay in the Steelers.

Similarly, on the other hand, the former Jets player is happy with his new team and quarterback, who praised him in a post-game presser: “It was a big-time catch by Mike. I just try to give him a chance and let him do his thing. You love it when guys face adversity and they come through on the other end of it… It’s a credit to Mike, just studying the film and understanding all the extra time that we put in this week, just having confidence in the people around you.

Well, at the very least, Russell Wilson and the team have confidence in Mike Williams. This is too despite Aaron Rodgers & Jets not showing faith in the WR. But the positive update is that Rodgers hasn’t any ill feelings for him for sure.

Now, besides making his feelings clear on the matter, Aaron Rodgers also cleared one major point. This is probably an even bigger issue with the Jets now.

Aaron Rodgers is not retiring soon?

In 2022, when fans were wondering about Aaron Rodgers’s future with the Packers, the veteran QB came with a clear statement: “The one thing I would 100 percent not do is retire and then come back a year later. I don’t have any desire to do that, that makes no sense.” And he did come! He returned with another team, the New York Jets. However, that season ended abruptly due to injury. He informed his fans that 2023 wasn’t the end for him, as he would come back next year. Again, he did!

Now, with the Jets experiencing some arguably poor losses, and 3-7 record, the same question has been lingering now. So, will Aaron Rodgers retire after this season? He himself gave a bold answer: “Not really. Not for the negative.” Yes, he rejected all the retirement talks. But as NFL reporter Connor Hughes put in – “The questions on whether or not Rodgers returns next year really center on how the rest of this season goes.

Nevertheless, with his new comments, it seems that this season hasn’t changed his opinion and that he will come back in 2025. And as per previous records, Aaron Rodgers keeps his promise of returning, if not on his “Super Bowl-like” performance.
