After suffering a 6-12 loss against the Los Angeles Rams in week 15, the San Francisco 49ers are struggling to find inspiration. The thing they have struggled with this whole season. The HC Kyle Shanahan and QB Brock Purdy could not assert confidence in their locker room. Seeing this, their legend Jerry Rice is not happy.
He appeared on the 95.7 The Game show on December 17, and when Bonta Hill asked Rice, “Have you seen any improvement from this team in terms of body language and spirit and energy since the Kansas City game?” he gave a blunt response. For those of you who don’t know, the Niners lost the game 18-28. Rice replied, “No, No, No, No. If anything, it has gone the other direction. And reason why I say that is that you gotta man, you got to love the game of football, and you got to pour your heart into it and, you know, it’s like you still see little pieces, pieces where, you know, like, say, a Fred Warner, you know, Greenlaw.” That shows that the 49ers’ locker room was lacking the willpower. It’s interesting.

The loss against the Chiefs broke the 49ers. Their O-line was already struggling with injuries. RB Christian McCaffrey was dealing with an Achilles’ injury and their WR, Brandon Aiyuk, tore his MCL and ACL against the Chiefs, which ruled him out of the entire season. Later, in week 10, the RB returned and injured himself again in the week 13 matchup against the Bills. He suffered a PCL injury in his right knee and was set to miss the remaining regular season.
Jerry Rice continued in his analysis and added, “Some guys you know, actually showing that energy. But I wanted, I really want to see that from everybody you know, from all all the players. So, yeah, I don’t think it has gotten better, I think if anything went the other direction.” The question now is how they would finish the season.
However, the management is seriously considering the changes. They are reviewing the performance. And taking action against the defaulters.

On December 16, the 49ers GM John Lynch issued a statement that read, “We have suspended De’Vondre Campbell for three games due to conduct detrimental to the team. We will have no further comment on the matter.” The 3-game suspension handed to the LB De’Vondre Campbell shows that they have a no-nonsense approach.
It showed up earlier too when the GM confronted the linebacker on the sidelines during the week 15 game against the Rams. As he had refused to enter the game. Consequently, other 49ers’ players, including George Kittle and Charvarius Ward, had criticized the LB. Rumors of his firing already circulated.

Now, the responsibility lies on the shoulders of their QB, HC, and the GM. The 49ers are still in the 11th position at the NFC conference. Being at the bottom of the NFC West, their road is tough. Can they qualify? The chances are slim, 1% as per NFL, but the Faithful believe they can.
