Football fans can’t ignore the noise that the Dallas Cowboys are making right now. Featuring their three eminent players Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons, the Cowboys have some massive calls to make in terms of contract, retention, and trade. But, the owner Jerry Jones hasn’t looked too bothered by the dynamics surrounding the team. In fact, during the pre-NFL draft press meet, he mentioned that it is all about “timing” and how the team is “not ready to go” on making new deals right now.

This might have resulted in tensions in the Cowboys’ camp as both CeeDee Lamb and Parsons have been absent from the OTAs. Meanwhile, quarterback Prescott has been evidently showing up for the same. The stance and owner’s approach to this sensitive and crucial situation have led Mike Florio to comment on the way things are being handled. Taking to the Pat McAfee Show, the 58-year-old did not hesitate in calling Prescott’s first huge break, a mess.

The Cowboys signal caller inked a whopping 4-year $160 million extension in 2021 but he might not be getting a contract next year, as many speculate that it has something to do with his playoff performance. The astonishing thing about Prescott’s contract is that his cap hit increases massively each year. Per Spotrac, Dak Prescott carried a cap hit of $17.4 million and this year, it soared to $55.4 million.

“They’ve got an issue with Dak Prescott, twice now. They’ve got the issue currently with CeeDee Lamb and I don’t think Micah Parsons is walking through the door until he gets his contract, and I don’t know how they’re going to work these things out,” said the broadcaster. Prescott’s projected market value is about $51 million currently, but it is speculated to go as high as $60 million if a new deal comes through.

As if this wasn’t enough, the Cowboys might soon be parting ways with Mike McCarthy because his contract is about to expire. McCarthy is 1-3 in the postseason with the Dallas Cowboys. But Jerry Jones cannot fire McCarthy now because he would have to pay him for not working. And that’s what Florio has an issue with.

“Jerry Jones for as rich he is, he’s cheap and he doesn’t like to pay people to not work for him. He didn’t fire McCarthy primarily because he would have to pay him to not work in 2024,” said Florio. He further noted, “So, play out the year and I think Belichick, your guy, Belichick may be the ace in the hole next year if it doesn’t work out with McCarthy.” Notably, Micah Parsons is in his 5 year option and some rumors about CeeDee Lamb have taken the NFL space.

Will CeeDee Lamb get good news before Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons?

Per Todd Archer of ESPN, something substantial might come of CeeDee Lamb and Dallas Cowboys’ negotiations. It’s common news by now that Lamb is waiting for Justin Jefferson’s deal to finalize so that he can name his prize and stay in Jerry Land. Archer was positive about Lamb’s deal to be completed while in training camp.

“If more leaves fall, such as a Justin Jefferson deal with Minnesota, then the price for Lamb could go even higher. Of the Cowboys’ big three deals for Prescott, Lamb, and Micah Parsons, the talks with Lamb could begin in earnest soon, with an eye on getting finalized in training camp,” wrote Archer for ESPN.

But the mind begs the question of whether America’s team would really choose to pursue a receiver before making sure that they have finalized the quarterback position. Prescott led the league in passing touchdowns (36) last year and CeeDee Lamb is one of the most prolific players in the league right now.

As far as Micah Parsons is concerned, he picked up a 5-year deal with the team but there’s a catch. He might not play as a linebacker, instead he will get listed as a defensive end. This is another one of Jerry Jones’ antics to save money, which comes to about $3 million in savings. Parsons will make about $21.3 million as a defensive end this year. The question remains, will the Cowboys be able to sustain their big 3? What do you think about their situation? Let us know below.
