NFL analysts are still positive that Dak Prescott’s long overdue contract will be the next big thing in the league. Till now, Jerry Jones has held out on giving him a deal on account of testing the waters this year. But regardless of all the noise, Tom Pelissero thinks that if the Dallas Cowboys let Prescott go, the QB could attract a $60 million deal somewhere else.

The Rich Eisen Show hosted a royal rumble of the QBs and dived deeper into the QBs who are due for a huge payday. Per Pelissero, the Cowboys are holding off on giving the QB a deal and waiting for this season to end to take his contract to a new level. But will this procrastination be a bane for the Dallas Cowboys?

Suzy Shuster spearheaded the “next big QB contract” debate on The Rich Eisen Show and wanted Tom Pelissero’s thoughts on the situation. Without a hint of doubt, the NFL analyst pointed out that it would be Prescott who steals the next biggest contract, whether it’s with the Cowboys or any other team. The analyst pointed out how Kirk Cousins acquired a huge deal despite coming off an Achilles injury.

Judging by the way things are going between Jones and Prescott, the QB might become an “unfettered free agent” by next March. When that happens, Prescott could easily reel in a $60 million per year deal with any team of his choice. But Jerry Jones giving Prescott one more chance depends on his performance this year. Of course, Prescott not getting any playoff wins is a huge part of the holdout, but Jones’ statement implies that he’s willing to wait and see.

“No matter what you think of Dak Prescott, it’s hard to make an argument that perennially he’s not a top 10, top 8, maybe even top 6 quarterback in the NFL and Jerry Jones and the Cowboys for whatever reason have had the philosophy in recent years here that they’re going to always kick the can down the road on these contracts,” said Pelissero of the impending deal.

But ever since last month, the Dak Prescott-Jerry Jones contract discussion has been losing its potency. Regardless of what Pelissero says about Prescott, becoming the richest QB is still not his priority.

It’s been a couple of weeks since Jerry Jones’ “all in” comment took the NFL world by storm. But those words meant something completely different to the Cowboys owner than what the public interpretation is. Still, whatever the result of this long-drawn-out conversation is, Prescott is committed to giving his best in the coming season.

Media caught up to Prescott when he was attending the Children’s Cancer Fund and asked him about his future with the Cowboys. “Yeah, I’m not trying to be the highest paid necessarily. We’ll wait till the negotiations begin and I obviously want to put this team in the best situation, so,” said Prescott.

But despite Jerry Jones saying, “We want Dak Prescott, that’s that,” nothing concrete has come to light. It’s about time that the Cowboys let Prescott know that they still want him as their franchise QB considering how Jared Goff just scored a $212 million deal. Though Prescott is not focused on a huge payout, it might still hurt to watch other QBs get their bag amidst uncertainty surrounding his situation.
