“Mike’s an outstanding coach.” I’m not saying that, honestly. It’s what Jerry Jones has to say for the head coach after the Cowboys secured a thrilling win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And just when you thought that McCarthy was done with the Dallas team this year, Jones dropped a bomb. And the vision of Dallas without McCarthy seems far away now. As it appears, the Cowboys fans might not be that much happy now after a clinching win.

You can take a sigh of relief though, at least for now, as Dan Orlovsky has your back. Just like y’all, Orlovsky is not happy with the thought of McCarthy returning next season as the HC. “The organization loves mediocrity. … They are an average organization that doesn’t win when it matters the most.” The analyst stated when asked about his thoughts on the same.

Let’s cut to the chase and dive into the matter. The Cowboys are already eliminated, but Jones still has something to cheer for. We’re sure Jerry Jones embracing the head coach was surely not on our NFL bucket list this season. And the salt in the wound? The owner is not taking a halt praising the HC.

Mike McCarthy, he just won’t let them not think they’re playing for the Super Bowl out there,” said Jones in the post-game conference. “He won’t let them do it. Proud of that. Proud of the coach.” Truth be told, the Super Bowl is a distant victory if the roster has legit struggles with their offense.

Yeah, the Cowboys are notable with passing and rushing games, but they still gotta clean up their third downs and red zone trips. And Orlovsky couldn’t agree more with this. “If you bring back Mike McCarthy, you’re not gonna win a Super Bowl with this offense,” he said. And with all the injuries and losses piling up, the Dallas team looked chaotic and not in control from the get go. With players like Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons, everyone was hoping for something much better than the team could provide.

Despite such a concerning state, it seems Jerry Jones is still ‘all-in‘ on his HC. Which understandably is confusing for fans and analysts alike.

Is Jerry Jones' loyalty to McCarthy a sign of faith or a recipe for more mediocrity?

Evidently, this year marks McCarthy’s last season as the HC of the Dallas team after he signed a five-year deal ahead of the 2020 NFL season. However, there’s still some twist left before the regular season concludes. There’s no denying that Jones’ and McCarthy’s recent chummy vibes grabbed the spotlight. But wait a bit more, folks, as the interesting part is on its way over.

When asked if the coach was returning for yet another season, Jerry Jones chose to remain silent on the very topic. And as they say, silence speaks volumes, and the Cowboys’ owner is refusing to confirm McCarthy’s tenure for the next season. On the top of this, Jones also stated that he’s not willing to discuss his head coach’s future prospects with the team as of now.

As far as McCarthy’s resume is concerned, he’s been calling the shots for the Dallas team since 2020. With a solid 48-33 record in the regular season, he’s got a winning percentage of nearly 60%. But it’s the post season that has been rough for him and let’s not forget the 7-8 standings – the major reason Orlovsky and likes aren’t happy with McCarthy returning to the Cowboys. However, what Jerry Jones has in his mind, only one person knows that. And it’s the owner himself.
