It’s wild how quickly the tides turn in NFL fandom. But Jerry Jones? He’s built differently. Right after the Lions steamrolled the Cowboys in a 47-9 blowout—yes, on his birthday, no less—Jones delivered the meme-worthy face of the week. But fast-forward, and now he’s all smiles over the Cowboys’ three wins in the 3-4 record. Weird flex? Maybe. But that’s Jerry.
On 105.3 The Fan, Jones admitted, “I think we’re having a rougher go than I anticipated… It is rougher, and I did not anticipate the challenges that we’re having with this team.” Sounds like a confession wrapped in optimism. And he’s not wrong to feel a little uneasy. The Cowboys are at a minus-8 turnover ratio, having already coughed up the ball 13 times. To put that in perspective, they only turned it over 16 times all last season.
But here’s the kicker: Jerry’s actually glad for those three wins. He’s calling it a “plus.” Cowboys Nation? Well, they are used to this weekly Jones antics at this point. The fans are less thrilled because they know this is not a record for the America’s Team to boast about. But it is what it is.

And then there’s Dak Prescott. You’d think the league’s most expensive QB might have a thing or two to say about his performance. But he’s got his own “Try Not to Laugh” challenge going on. When a reporter hit him with the stat that he has fewer rushing yards this season than Aaron Rodgers, Andy Dalton, and Joe Flacco. Guess Dak’s reaction. You would not have guessed this: he smirked and laughed, saying, “Dude, you’re funny.” Then he added, “Yeah, it’s bad.” However, he did not exactly sound convincing when he said that.
Was the laugh his way of saying, “I’m the guy with the $240 million contract”? Or was he just humoring the way the reporter phrased it? Either way, it’s a strange vibe from Dak, considering he’s been playing well below par. How bad are we looking at? Well, the most expensive QB only has 24 rushing yards in 7 games. Compare that to 40-year-old A-Rod hitting 43 rushing yards already in that lowly Jets offense. It’s looking pretty bad.
And it’s all coming back to haunt Jerry Jones. But the 82-year-old is not losing his cool that easily.

Jerry Jones is still… all-in!
We admit we might be squeezing it. But can’t help it. When it comes to Jerry Jones, it seems his “all-in” remark has been echoing since the postseason: “We’re all in… [to fight for the Super Bowl].” Bold words. But as this season shapes up, you can’t help but wonder if this really marks the start of a championship run. Right now, it’s looking more like a tough start for the Cowboys.

And Jones (surprisingly) did not sugarcoat at least one of the problems. He’s pretty clear about where the blame lies for the Cowboys’ shaky start. He’s pointing fingers at youth and inexperience, especially on the offensive line. “I really have a tough time getting past just sheer youth, sheer inexperience in the offensive line,” he admitted.
It’s a bit alarming, considering the Cowboys have already given up the ball 13 times this season. Last year, they only turned it over 16 times the entire season! To point out inexperience as part of the problem seems fair. But Dak has not been firing since signing that big-money contract. It’s safe to say the defense isn’t firing on all cylinders, and let’s be real, the offensive line hasn’t exactly been a fortress. So, why is Jerry still smiling through the storm? All because of the 3 wins, too.
Well, it’s the case of him still believing that there’s potential just waiting to break through. “I’ve seen Dak make the kinds of plays that would cause us to have a different turnover ratio,” he said. And don’t forget Mike McCarthy, who’s got a Super Bowl ring. Jerry’s banking on that experience. And in his mind, it’s all about getting back on track.

But is it just about that? There seems to be more to it than just a lack of motivation. What do you think?
