The Cowboys‘ QB room right now? Let’s just say it’s hanging by a thread thinner than Jerry Jones’ patience. Dak’s banged up, Cooper Rush packed his bags for Baltimore, and Trey Lance? Well, let’s just say he’s still a mystery wrapped in a riddle. So, what’s the plan, Jerry? Because Cowboys fans aren’t exactly loving this “hope for the best” strategy at the most important position on the field.

Turns out, Jerry did get a plan for the most important position on the field. On Thursday, the New England Patriots traded their QB, Joe Milton III, and a seventh-round pick to the Cowboys in exchange for a fifth-round pick. Yeah, you read that right. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported the news on her official ‘X’ handle, writing, “The Patriots are trading QB Joe Milton III and a seventh-round pick to Dallas in exchange for a fifth rounder, per source.”

“If you look too far into the future, you’re not gonna get where you want to go,” Joe Milton remarked after his NFL debut in the final game of the regular season. A game that caught everyone’s attention. Picture this: A 6’5″, 246-pound QB with a rocket launcher for an arm is neither your QB1 nor your QB1. Nope, he’s stuck at QB3 behind Drake Maye and Josh Dobbs.

Then came his week 18 heroics—22-of-29 for 241 yards, 1 TD, and a celebratory backflip, and all of a sudden everyone was interested in Milton. The rumors linked him to the Cowboys, Jets, and the Saints. The reason? Put it this way: the Patriots drafted Milton in the sixth round of last year’s draft. The guy warmed the bench throughout the season, except for the season-ending game. The result?

According to Mark Daniels of the Patriots, “Joe Milton III wanted out of New England to have a better chance to compete. He didn’t think he’d get that with the Patriots due to Drake Maye and Josh Dobbs.” Enter Jerry Jones’ Cowboys, who lost Cooper Rush to Baltimore and were stuck in limbo over Dak Prescott’s future. There you go. The Cowboys needed a QB. Milton needed a team. A match made in heaven.

With Prescott possibly sidelined next season, don’t be surprised if Joe Milton III ends up running the show for the Cowboys. Yeah, it’s a wild thought—but at this point, Dallas might just have to roll with it.

Jerry Jones got positive news on Dak Prescott

The 2024 season was surely a tiring one for Dak Prescott. The QB went from MVP runner-up in 2023 to a rough 2024 that Cowboys fans would rather forget. The season started shaky, Prescott called his play “average,” and then—boom—hamstring injury, season over. Without him, Dallas’ offense struggled, and the Cowboys wrapped up their season on an embarrassing note. And now?

Well, with Dak’s permission, the Cowboys released a video of him working out. The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport noted, “Dak Prescott is looking normal.” To make it more interesting, the Cowboys’ executive vice president and COO, Stephen Jones, stated that he feels good about the QB’s rehab.

“Dak’s doing great,” Jones said, via The Athletic. “He’s coming along. He’s very thrilled with where he is. And I know the trainers are too. I feel like he’s doing a hell of a job.” However, when asked whether Prescott would participate in any of the offseason games, Stephen revealed that Dak will have “some limitations.” But the silver lining is that the QB is thrilled about his recovery and where he’s currently at.

Prescott started just 8 games in the last season, recording 1,978 yards and racked up 11 TD before injuring his hamstring. After sidelined for multiple weeks, Jerry Jones announced that the QB would undergo hamstring surgery and miss the remainder of the season. With the Cowboys are looking to end their Super Bowl drought, Jerry Jones and the Cowboys Nation are surely hoping for Dak’s recovery.
