The Dallas Cowboys are in a counterbalance situation right now. In week 8, the team was thrashed by the 49ers – this was a huge win for the latter because it was their consecutive 4th win against the Cowboys. Jerry Jones‘ team is really struggling, and everyone blames Dak Prescott for it. The QB is sometimes chastised for running with the ball rather than throwing it to another player. Everyone is bashing this move however, it appears that Jones does not perceive it as a mistake.
It sounds strange, but the billionaire recently discussed this at an appearance on 105.3 FM radio. There, he was questioned about Dak Prescott and the controversy surrounding the quarterback. Jones claims that no one wants to watch the quarterback go off with the ball. He claimed, “You really don’t want to see him… you don’t want to see him really take off with that ball.”

But later in the conversation, he began to take the side of his QB. The billionaire stated that there is no regulation requiring a quarterback to not run and instead pass the ball. This means that Prescott can truly run with a ball; he just needs to be clever about it. Furthermore, Jerry Jones believes Dak Prescott is making good on-field decisions. The man believes that the quarterback only runs when there is an opportunity for him to move the game forward.

“I wouldn’t say it’s up there in red letters in the practice facility ‘don’t run’, but I would say that we want him to be smart about it.” The Cowboys owner said, continuing, “And he is being smart about it. He will, when he sees the opportunity, pull it down and run with it as we know.” Furthermore, Jones believes that his quarterback is up to the task at hand. The individual also believes that the sole challenge for the quarterback is his health. About which the billionaire has some concerns too.
Jerry Jones doesn’t want Dak Prescott to be injured
Obviously, if someone owns a team, he does not want anyone, especially his quarterback, to be injured. Jerry Jones thinks the same way, as evidenced by his worries disclosed in the midst of his remarks. The Cowboys’ general manager, although not opposed to rushing, does not want his quarterback harmed. Jerry Jones claimed, “These quarterbacks that run, you know they’re going to get injured. And that happens. It happens to the youngest. It happens to the best. It’s happened to Dak. To the end we rely on him to stay healthy, that’s an important part of it.”

This season, Dak Prescott has been a decent contributor to this team and deserves this recognition. The quarterback has 167 completed throws in 262 attempts, giving him a completion rate of 63.7%. The man has an average of 7 to 10 touchdowns in just seven appearances. Although these are some good stats he has received severe bashing from ex-NFL players too.
