Is Micah Parsons right to worry more about veteran players than Coach McCarthy's future?

The Dallas Cowboys might want to scratch their eyes out after the brutal 6-34 loss to the Eagles. With four straight losses, Jerry Jones’ team might just want to cry their hearts out. But it’s not just the streak of defeats they might be crying about. Things have kept piling up from internal team conflicts to the recent AT&T Stadium controversy. And now Micah Parsons’ comments about head coach Mike McCarthy have added to their woes. It’s like the Cowboys’ bad luck just won’t quit, at least not for this season. After the tragic loss to the Eagles, the Cowboys linebacker wasn’t holding back.

After Parsons’ comment, things blew up fast, and social media went wild. Everyone jumped to the conclusion that he was frustrated with the rough season and McCarthy’s struggles with coaching. Things got so out of hand that Jerry Jones himself had to step in and calm things down. On 105.3 The FAN, Jones clarified that the 25-year-old did not aim his comments at criticizing McCarthy. “It wasn’t meant as a critique of the coach. It was meant as a concern for veteran players, like Zack Martin, who might not have that much more left in their career.” People hit Parsons with a ton of backlash for his statement. But Jones stepped in to defend him. “Micah does not feel a lack of appreciation for (McCarthy),” the Cowboys Owner said.

To give you some context: Micah Parsons, who had just returned from an injury, was so disappointed by the loss that he couldn’t stop speaking out. When asked about the Cowboys’ terrible season and coach Mike McCarthy, Parsons said it’s the veteran players who are probably playing their last season that he’s concerned about. He’s not concerned with the head coach. “Mike can leave and go wherever he wants, guys I kind of feel bad for (are) guys like Zack Martin and guys who might be on their last year or on their way out. Because that’s who I wanted to hold the trophy for.” Uh-oh, sounds like things aren’t going too smoothly between the coach and the linebacker.

What’s going on there? Only the Cowboys know. But Parsons ended up in an unusual trouble after this. Next, he stepped in himself to clarify his stance.

After all the drama, Parsons on The Edge cleared things up, stating he didn’t mean any criticism toward his coach. He went on to say, “He’s one of the most winningest coaches. He is a Super Bowl champ.” When he said,” That’s above my pay grade if Mike coaches again next year. Mike can leave and go wherever he wants.”

The statement meant that Coach McCarthy can keep his career going, whether it’s with the Cowboys or not. McCarthy also stepped in to clear things up, saying that he and Parsons are all good. They had a conversation and sorted it out. “Micah and I had a conversation this morning about it, and we handled those things as men should handle it.”

Parsons made a comment that sounded like a jab at McCarthy, but he just phrased it poorly. Now that everyone’s cleared things up, I guess it’s time to chill out.
