Are the Cowboys more of a reality show than a football team under Jerry Jones' reign?

Another week. Another bashing of Jerry Jones. Many NFL legends have given the man reality checks, and it appears like this has happened again. The billionaire did not manage the team correctly, and 2024 is looking like a disaster for them. The team is in serious disarray, with a 3-7 record. But what really is going on with them? Well, don’t worry, as Kyle Long and Brock Vereen appear to have pinpointed the issue.

The legends were recently discussing the Cowboys on the NFL on CBS. Former guard Kyle Long began the talk by bringing up the team’s main issue. The man explained how “Jerry Jones has complete autonomy.” The billionaire is the emperor of Dallas, which is a bad thing. Although he played a significant role in developing the NFL, the man is simply not qualified to make football decisions.

Kyle Long asserted that the Cowboys roster is star-studded on top with fillers in between. And the team is heavily reliant on those particular filler players. And we all know that these fillers will not help the team win a game. Following Long’s words, Brock Vereen joined the hammering and highlighted even more points.

The former football safety initially mentioned how the team has turned the NFL into “a reality TV show.” The man added that the team is made up entirely of star players, who are also surrounded by fans. Vereen said that having fans at the Cowboys’ practice sessions is entirely inappropriate. Due to these types of things, the players are not focused on the game. And the team, well, Vereen thinks that, “this is one big podcast of a football team.”

The statements by the legends were definitely harsh, and ironically, they arrived at the best time. You may wonder why their statement came in at a perfect time. Well, it is due to the fact that Jerry Jones is currently preparing to make another major decision. But, what is it?

Is Jerry Jones finally replacing his team’s head coach?

What’s your perspective on:

Are the Cowboys more of a reality show than a football team under Jerry Jones' reign?

Have an interesting take?

Well, the answer is actually yes. The billionaire’s attempt to hire Bill Belichick as his head coach in 2025 is now old news. However, the situation has taken a new turn. Interestingly, as per CBS Sports, Jerry Jones is not getting a single head coach for his squad. Yes, you heard that correctly; the man is also attempting to appoint a Cowboys icon as HC. But, who is it?

The icon in question here is Jason Witten. It was previously believed that Jerry Jones would select one of Witten or Belichick as his HC. As a result, Witten vs Belichick became a hot topic on the internet. But why would Jones hire one of them when he can have them both on board?

It will benefit the squad more since someone who knows the game will be making decisions. Furthermore, Witten’s work with Belichick will make a lot of news headlines. And we all know that this is what Jerry Jones wants. This new move will be fantastic for both public reactions and the team. So the likelihood of it happening is at its highest right now.

However, if we believe recent rumors, Jerry Jones has yet to persuade both legends. Only time will tell whether the billionaire will pull the plug on this plan and make it materialize. Until then, do share your thoughts about Jerry Jones. Do you believe the Cowboys will make a stronger comeback next season?
