If you thought Zach Martin was retiring after the conclusion of this season, hold your breath. Speculations around Martin not coming back next season are strong after his injury. But it seems Jerry Jones is not ready to let go of his veteran RG. He has asked the Cowboys Nation not to jump to conclusions. And even given a silver lining.
Zack Martin, who has played for the Cowboys ever since 2014, injured his right ankle against the Texans two weeks back. Although he had been struggling with ankle injuries on both of his feet all year round, this time, he needed surgery. As the Cowboys RG himself shared, “It’s something I’ve been dealing with all year, back to the training camp. And really over the last few years.” But hope’s not dead. Sharing his thoughts on 105.3 The Fan, Jones said, “This shouldn’t be viewed as an end to his playing (career) at all. … It should be viewed as the remainder of this season, and only that.”
Martin, for now, is just focusing on his health and doesn’t want to think about anything else, “It’s a tough situation, and the most important thing on my mind is getting healthy, and then have those conversations down the road.” The conversations around his contract, he means.

With his contract expiring after this season, speculations surrounding his return were always going to be a question. Although Jerry Jones could probably want him back on right guard next season, he is not the only one. Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons also wants the same.

Micah Parsons wants to see Martin in blue and white once more
Dallas finally had some hope with two consecutive wins. But now they have to deal with Zack Martin sitting out the rest of this season. The team still has names like Brock Hoffman and T.J. Bass in his place to start at right guard. But legends can’t be replaced, right?
His Pro Bowl-laden career and the influence he has in the Cowboys locker room speaks volumes besides his gridiron duties. And that could be a major reason behind Parsons’ disappointment right now. “I really just hate to see him go out like this. Last year of his deal.”
But Parsons doesn’t just hate the idea of seeing him go out like this, he wants Martin to come back and play for one more year. “I just hope he’s got one more year left in his tank. I want one more year.” Apart from Parsons, their star receiver, CeeDee Lamb, also couldn’t believe that Martin would be leaving in such a way, “It’s a tough pill to swallow on my end.”
