How unlucky can one get? Ask the Jets; they might be able to answer that question for you. When Aaron Rodgers was brought to the Jets from the Packers, the deal was that he would bring the team the success it had been craving for years. Sadly, the veteran QB failed miserably. And do you remember all the rumors about how Rodgers was responsible for firing head coach Robert Saleh and bringing in his friends (like Davante Adams)? But the papers say something different now. It wasn’t the former Packers QB, but owner Woody Johnson.
The cat’s out of the bag at last. And if you’re someone who loves tea, let us ‘spill’ some for you. Last year, the Jets were exploring their options for who they could add to their squad. Of course, they had their eyes on Aaron Rodgers, but they needed potential players who could help Rodgers secure the wins. The management almost finalized a trade for then Broncos player Jerry Jeudy, but Johnson vetoed it because of his Madden rating. Baffled, right? But the Browns WR doesn’t believe it. When asked by the media, he said, “To be honest, I don’t believe it. I think that’s fake news… Why would somebody look at Madden’s rating. Be real. I don’t think that real, but it’s funny. “
Jerry Jeudy speaks on the report that Jets owner Woody Johnson vetoed a trade for him because of his Madden rating:

But by the look on his face, he looks as baffled as anyone could be upon hearing this. According to a report by The Athletic, the Jets’ then-General Manager, Joe Douglas, was in trade talks with the Broncos for WR Jerry Jeudy, and the team was almost all set for it. But then, Woody Johnson told Douglas not to go ahead with the deal. That’s when the team brought in Rodgers’ bestie, Davante Adams. And, well, just look at how the season turned out for them, firing people left, right, and center.
Not trading a potential player because of a ‘video game rating?’ Yeah, that’s not sitting well with anyone!!
Why didn’t Woody Johnson bring in Jerry Jeudy?

Do you remember Joe Douglas’s words, “I answer to a teenager.” It left all of us confused about who he was referring to. The secret is, that he was talking about Woody Johnson’s teenage sons, Jack and Brick. But wait! How do they fit into the picture? It seems they’ve always been involved, and we’re only learning about it now. The reason Johnson declined the Jerry Jeudy trade with the Broncos was because his sons told him that Jeudy’s Madden ratings weren’t impressive enough. I mean, yes, fathers love their children and fulfill all their wishes, but we’re talking about managing an NFL team here. There’s no way you can let your teenage sons decide who to pick or not.
Not only that, as per ‘The Athletics’ Zack Rosenblatt, Dianna Russini, and Michael Silver, Johnson’s sons had access to the team’s locker room too. Their friends would also tag along with them. Now, a team’s locker room is a place where only players, coaches, and staff personnel are allowed. But you’re telling us Woody’s sons Jack and Brick would often be there and even show disrespect towards the players?

A source within the Jets’ organization also shared with The Athletic that it’s common for Woody Johnson “to bring up things his teenage sons, Brick or Jack, have seen online, and those opinions are often given as much weight as any other viewpoint from someone in the department.” And after all this, you’ve been firing coaches and GMs? Now that the secret’s out, Woody’s got to brace himself for what’s coming next. No way people are letting this slide.
