Can Drake Maye truly bounce back, or is he just another overhyped first-round draft pick?

After receiving constant criticism, Drake Maye may have rediscovered his groove on the field. Well! There is currently no proof of the young quarterback regaining his form. Actually, these rumors arose as a result of a comment made by the Eagles’ head coach, Jerod Mayo. So why don’t we take a look at what the head coach said about the young QB?

Mayo, the head coach, spoke about Maye during an NFL media appearance, revealing the quarterback’s improvement. You’ll be relieved to know that following Jacoby Brissett’s benching, the quarterback has proven that he can replace him. Drake Maye is now at the top of his game, and a week of practice has provided new enthusiasm for everyone. Because of this fresh enthusiasm, the team appears to be more aggressive and is shaping up well for their forthcoming matchup. The HC stated, “I feel like there’s a renewed sense of energy around the team.”

For those who are unfamiliar, Drake Maye has not been a particularly good player for the gridiron since the season began. Everyone was blaming him for the Eagles’ dismal performance against the Jets. At one time, several sources stated that HC Mayo was the one who replaced him from the team. After all these things, he was benched, but now maybe he is ready to come back. With so many practice sessions and activities on the practice field, it appears like the young quarterback’s hard work paid off.

But have you ever wondered why Drake Maye was getting so much heat? Did the quarterback perform thus poorly on the field? Let’s check at his 2024 numbers to get any clarity.

The numbers portray a bad picture for Drake Maye

We only saw the quarterback in one game this season, and it was a disaster for him and the team. That was the game versus the New York Jets, and the Eagles lost by a score of 24-3. After properly studying the game, it is clear why Drake Maye was ultimately responsible for the defeat. During the game, the quarterback was unable to make throws and lost the ball beforehand.

Have an interesting take?

As a result, the Eagles did not have a single opportunity to take control of the game. The quarterback attempted 8 throws, but half of them failed miserably. The successful passes combined for a total of 22 yards, which is clearly terrible for a first-round draft pick. There was no touchdown for the entire squad since no such opportunity arose. However, it appears that Drake Maye will rehabilitate his negative image among admirers now that he is ready to go in. Even Jacoby Brissett has acknowledged the rookie QB’s improvement.

We’ll find out soon enough if Maye can take over the reins for the team, or will the Pats need to train him more? If things get worse, Brissett is there to be under center while mentoring the young QB.
