Boos rain down on the New York Giants this time, especially for their quarterback! The G-Men stepped in for their first game of the 2024 season and the New York nation was waiting for the team to win against the Minnesota Vikings. However, their loss or it would be more precise to call it an extreme disappointment, led to an outrage. One, that brought the QB Daniel Jones under harsh scrutiny.
During the Sunday matchup, the Vikings QB Sam Darnold had a standout game, throwing two touchdown passes, leading his team to a comfortable 28-6 win over the Giants. The anger from the Giants’ fans was evident, given the disheartening score they put up on the board. However, as the QB with zero TDs and the team faced verbal criticism from the fans, the Giants offensive tackle stepped up to protect his QB.

Jermaine Eluemunor, the Giants’ offensive tackle, shared a video by NY content creator, Alex Wilson, on X. In this video, QB Daniel Jones can be seen exiting out of the MetLife Stadium post-game, where he faced innumerable fans’ boos outside the arena. Many could be heard saying, “Danny! I need a million!….You s–ck.”
This didn’t sit well with Eluemunor, who highlighted Jones’ current mindset, “Today didn’t go as expected I get it, but this is WACK A-. As someone who’s dealt with and still fights depression and confidence issues this needs to stop. It’s okay to be upset as a fan but to come to the player entrance and act this way is inhumane. We will be better, this needs to be better also.”
As Eluemunor emphasized how this yelling can take a mental toll on Daniel Jones, he asked everyone to be patient with the team. He asked the fans to stop excessively hating the players, as it could impact the mental health of the athletes.

Although this request was acknowledged by many, there were even some fans who tried to straightaway justify the negativity. “Hey I appreciate n respect you doing this but Jones’ relationship with the fans is way deeper than today’s game. It’s been 6 years of very poor play.” On the other hand, someone another fan chimed in, repeating a similar thought, as well. They said, “He’s generationally bad so I couldn’t care less about his mental health he’s ruined my team for 6 years.”

During the Sunday matchup, Jones was only able to “complete 22 out of 42 passes for 186 yards, wherein he threw no touchdowns but was intercepted twice.” In addition to that, “one of the costly turnovers was returned for a touchdown by Vikings linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel.” Hence, Jones’ “accuracy, decision-making, holding the ball for too long, and the play calling of head coach Brian Dabaoll” are constantly being hated by the Giants’ fanbase.

Those Giants’ fans loved it, and the rest of the crowd present over there erupted in loud cheers too. One fan was even heard saying, “Yes” to the incident, while some shouted “more fire, more fire,” as they likely enjoyed seeing Jones’ jersey burning.
