The NFL is becoming more progressive with each passing day. The proof of this is the admission of female coaches in the league. Jennifer King has done amazing things for women nationwide after being accepted as a football coach in the league. The Chicago Bears are the team to make her enter the side, aiding their Offensive team.
While we’ve seen people like Autumn Lockwood and Katie Sowers coach the Super Bowls, the NFL is about to witness more and more female coaches with further additions. A post from the NFL reporter Bridget Condon sheds some light on just how the women in the NFL are ushering the league into a new era.

An interesting thing about this hiring is that Jennifer King became the first black woman ever to gain a permanent coaching position in the NFL. Her stint with the NFL started back in 2018 when Ron River invited her to join the Carolina Panthers as the WRs coaching intern. She later followed him to the Washington Commanders as a coaching intern in 2020. As she slowly proved her mettle, she was promoted to an assistant RB coach in 2021.
Following the same trajectory, it was time for her to leave the Commanders as she started a new chapter of her life as the Chicago Bears’ new Offensive Assistant, working with the RBs. She may be the first black woman to have a substantial coaching position, but she is not the only woman acquiring that space.

The feminine side of the NFL
It all started back in 2016 when the Buffalo Bills hired Kathryn Smith for a full-time coaching position as the Bills special team quality control coach. Though she was the second coach hired after Dr. Jen Welter, Smith was the first female coach hired on a full-time basis.

Last year around this time, the Tennessee Titans hired the franchise’s first-ever full-time female coach, Lori Locust. She joined the Titans squad as a defensive assistant. She initiated her first contact with the NFL when she started with the Ravens as a D-Line coaching intern in 2018. She later spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers along with Maral Javadifar, who helped the Bucs to get a Super Bowl win.
Something interesting happened back in September 2020, when the Cleveland Browns went against the Washington Commanders and the world saw two female coaches, Jennifer King and Callie Brownson go at it in the Commanders Vs. Browns game.
