“The best thing we may have done is better than we have ever done it: stick to it. There were opportunities where we had to go away from needs and just take the best player… I think it all came together well, and it worked out good for us.” For Stephen Jones, they did well drafting this year. And so it looks like. The team started with a questionable pick, selecting guard Tyler Booker as their first pick. But at the end of day three, it looks like a balanced selection of offensive and defensive players. Jerry Jones and the Cowboys brass made some good choices at the defensive positions.
The team, in their fifth and seventh rounds, addressed their RB position. They added Texas’ Jaydon Blue in the fifth round as the 149th overall and Phil Mafah as the 239th overall. Dallas is confident about these picks and believes that both will complement each other. On the other hand, Jaydon Blue’s excitement after joining America’s team is through the roof. “It was surreal. It’s still surreal. Just something that I’ve been working on for my whole life. It’s a dream come true for me. And for me to have the opportunity to be able to play from my home state, it means a lot to me,” Blue said after getting drafted.
Rocking a Cowboys cap, the RB added, “For me to be able to get a chance to play on this stage, especially for America’s team, it means a lot to me, man. I get a chance to showcase my skills and get to play at the highest level.” He wasn’t just excited, but full of promises as well.

When asked about what he is bringing to the Cowboys, Jaydon replied, “Everything, the talent, a great guy who’s willing to do whatever is best for the team, a guy who’s gonna come in there, try to earn the respect of my teammates and my coaches.” Well, that’s quite a statement to make as a rookie.
Jaydon sounded confident and determined, ready to take the field as an NFL player. The young RB also shared a message for his team after getting drafted.

At the combine, Jaydon was the second-fastest RB, running a 4.38-second 40-yard dash. He trailed behind Virginia Tech’s and now Jaguars RB Bhayshul Tuten, who clocked an impressive 4.32-second 40-yard dash. Analysts have highlighted Blue’s issues with fumbles, as he made seven fumbles in three seasons. But we cannot ignore the RB’s dual-threat capability. Indeed, Jaydon sees his playing style as similar to Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs.
Talking about Jaydon, Will McClay, Dallas’s VP of Player Personnel, said, “At the end of the day in the NFL, you’re looking for explosive playmakers. [Jaydon Blue] is an explosive playmaker. You put him in the backfield behind what we’ve built on the line, it gives you an opportunity to be explosive.” Undoubtedly, with Jaydon Blue’s explosive potential and the other new selections, the team is ready to make big plays ahead.
