The Detroit Lions had a home-field advantage. They were seed no. 1 after an impressive 15 wins. But then came the surprise. The no. 6 seed, the Washington Commanders, defeated the Lions in an entertaining shootout on their road to the NFC Championship clash. Jayden Daniels showed zero nerves as they defeated the Lions, 45-31, leading his team to Washington’s first conference championship game appearance in 33 years. Were you not entertained?
But along with this, there are some more histories that rookie Jayden Daniels is making this year with the Commanders. There’s one he is currently feeling grateful for. The 24-year-old quarterback shared a story on his Instagram on Monday. In this new update, he shared a poster, originally posted by the Commanders’ official IG account, which praised Daniels for his historical record this season. The post featured “5,113 yards,” announcing it the “most offensive yards by a rookie in NFL history.” The franchise even wrote, “that kid,” Jayden Daniels’s famous moniker (his Instagram handle), to give a tribute to the QB’s worth to the team.

Hence, sharing the same on his IG story, thankful and proud Daniels wrote a four-word message to GOD – “God is the Greatest,” along with a praying emoji. Without any doubt, Jayden Daniels is one of football’s most outstanding players. His leading Washington to the NFC Championship after a long 33-year wait itself says how impressive a player he is. He is catching the eye of legends from football and other sports.
This is also evident in what he did in December 2024, while playing against the Eagles. In that game, Jayden Daniels and his team were trailing by five, and the QB knew it was now or never. He led his team down the field in a thrilling nine-play 57-yard drive. And when only six seconds were remaining, the QB connected with Jamison Crowder on a 9-yard touchdown pass. In total, Daniels recorded five touchdown passes in that matchup, placing him alongside franchise legend Sonny Jurgensen, who last did it in 1964.
But if you count this season, Daniels has delivered four touchdowns in the final 30 seconds or overtime, a feat unmatched since the AFL-NFL merger. Isn’t it impressive? And who doesn’t remember that Hail Mary against the Bears? Well, there are more to his records and histories!
Jayden Daniels loves making history
“The consistency and approach are the most exciting things I’ve seen from him… He wants to be great, and he’s paying the price to be great.” Washington’s offensive coordinator, Kliff Kingsbury, appreciated Jayden Daniels for his work ethic. And if you look at the records created by the QB, you will get to know what the OC said is absolutely correct. For instance, the Commanders made a statement with their 34-13 win over the Browns this season.

But the real story? Jayden Daniels. This rookie’s team scored over 150 points in five games, which is rarely heard of. In addition, Daniels was electric in passing for over 1,000 yards and rushing for 250 in those five games. It’s like he was born for this moment. Even against the Cardinals, he made NFL history, completing over 85% of his throws in back-to-back games.
With his performances in the playoffs, Jayden Daniels broke Andrew Luck‘s rookie record for total yards (4,952 made in 2012). And guess what? He has also tied the NFL record (14) for most combined regular-season and playoff wins by a rookie QB. Aren’t these some incredible feats to achieve in the first season of the NFL? What else can Daniels add to these?
