Does Pat McAfee's energy make college football more exciting than the NFL for you?

Pat McAfee’s “College GameDay” has somewhat changed the dynamics of college football coverage this season. His recent episode of College GameDay garnered 3.5 million viewers as the Ducks got the better of the Ohio State Buckeyes in Eugene, Oregon. Having breathed a tincture of fresh air into college football, McAfee hopped on the New Heights Podcast to get Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce’s thoughts on College football.

McAfee, who described college football as “electric,” got the Kelce brothers’ thoughts on its atmosphere, which is somewhat different from the NFL. Jason, who retired last season, having played with the Eagles for 13 years, spoke critically of Philly’s atmosphere compared to college football games. “That is one thing I am jealous of soccer stadiums is those old school chants, those call and response chants. We don’t have those in Philly; those are electric.”

Well, hearing the former Eagles center refer to call-and-response chants, Pat couldn’t hold back his thoughts about one thing that made college football special. “You know there’s a dead period in NFL games, maybe? It’s like the college one’s there no dead period because there’s give-and-take calls back and forth. When I do all that s— on GameDay, it’s like that’s what they’re doing in the stadium.” McAfee explained the chants that make the college football atmosphere better than the NFL.

The commentator also expressed his gratitude for the way he learned the difference. “I’m very lucky to learn that. The thing about it is, I’m learning that from walking around the town the day before.” Apart from Jason and McAfee, Travis Kelce also joined in to describe the atmosphere in Eugene, Oregan, as “f—— electric” while praising Pat’s coverage, saying, “You had me off my couch singing with you dog.” But Travis Kelce isn’t the only one who is happy with Pat McAfee, as ESPN also praised the College GameDay host by calling him a ‘weapon.’

Enjoying his third season as a member of ESPN’s College GameDay, Pat McAfee is going all out this season. From going shirtless to adding former Alabama head coach Nick Saban to his crew, McAfee has given College GameDay coverage a new edge this year. Well, there is no one better than the hype man Pat, who can tap into the passion of college football running through the US.

Even college football coordinating producer Matthew Garrett couldn’t help but call McAfee a ‘weapon‘ in their ranks. “There is not anybody who I would rather have in front of a live audience than Pat. He’s just the best at it. He’s a weapon for us on the show and making every Saturday morning, really, appointment television.” This weapon that Garrett referred to as McAfee is doing something crazy this season.

As an average viewership of 2.1 million is tuning in every Saturday to watch McAfee deliver a pulsating show. While praising Pat for his influence in growing the College GameDay coverage, he also talked about forging a successful show together, “It’s our goal to put a show together for our viewers that’s a must-see every week, to give them a sense that your college football Saturday isn’t complete unless you’re kicking off at 9 a.m. with GameDay.”
