The 2024 NFL has been a heartbreaking season for Jason Licht’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They were just close to appearing in the divisional round, but the underdogs of Washington crushed Mayfield’s Bucs with a 20-23 win. Well, after the season-ending loss, a lot of water has flown under the Tampa Bay Bridge. One of the highlighted updates was OC Liam Coen’s departure.

But before we move to Liam Coen and its latest update, Jason Licht’s friend and Bucs fan Bert Kreischer has probably leaked important NFL draft updates of the Bucs. Kreischer was in conversation with Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.

He said, “So I’m curious who the Bucs are going to draft. So I text my guy at the Bucs, the GM. I text him. I go, who are you guys drafting? He texts me back. Oh, God. I’m like, cool. So I go and bust them with the boys And I announce their draft pick…Oh my god.”

They all were laughing when he recalled this. The Bucs insider also said, “I was like oh man, who do you think they’re drafting? I go, I know they’re drafting. I didn’t know it was a secret.” And said, “I was such an idiot. I’m not telling you anything.” LOL! But do you know which players are close to Jason Licht’s Bucs?

The Dolphins Superstar Tyreek Hill dropped a bomb in the NFL two weeks ago when he posted on X, “3-hour drive to Tampa about to be a breeze.” It is also said that Nic Scourton, the 20-year-old Texas A&M player, is under Jason Licht’s radar. However, let’s see what will happen in two months.

But you know, Jason Licht’s Bucs have rejected the requests by their former offensive coordinator Coen? Wanna know which offer was that? Let’s dive in.

What’s your perspective on:

Did the Bucs make a mistake blocking Coen's request, or was it a smart move?

Jason Licht’s Buccaneers rejected Liam Coen’s Jaguars’ important request

After parting ways with the Buccaneers, Liam Coen took charge of the Jaguars head coach position. But a few days after he snubbed Jason Licht’s Bucs, they rejected Liam Coen’s important request to interview a coach from the former franchise.

NFL insider Adam Schefter has revealed on social media, “Buccaneers blocked Jacksonville’s request to interview its assistant offensive line coach, Brian Picucci, who left Kentucky with Liam Coen to go to Tampa.” The insider added, “Jags were able to hire Coen, but not Picucci.” It was quite surprising.

The offensive line coach of the Buccaneers joined Jason Licht’s franchise along with Liam Coen in 2024. And what’s surprising? Both of them- Picucci and Coen- have worked together for the University of Kentucky. To delve further into Picucci, it is worth mentioning that he served as a quality control coach at Kentucky.

In his staggering 29 years of coaching experience, Picucci has also worked as assistant tight ends coach for the Detroit Lions in the 2018-19 season. As a colleague, Liam Coen has developed great chemistry with Brian Picucci.

Yet, after Jason Licht’s rejection allows Picucci to go for the interview, it’s clear the wounds of Coen’s sudden departure still lingering. Licht’s Bucs were interested in offering Coen the biggest salary to continue at the offensive coordinator job. But things have gone differently.

Well, that move also highlighted the unwritten fact: “This is business!” But the coaches and the Bucs’ Jason Licht also must have moved on. The NFL drafts are also coming closer. And as the Buccaneers have announced, “Bucs Will Pick 19th in the First Round of the 2025 NFL Draft.”
