Football is a very physical game, no doubt about it. And players like Jason Kelce often find themselves banged up while playing. Now, how each player likes to undertake his recovery process depends on the player. In the latest episode of Superfly with Dana Carvey and David Spade, Kelce graced the show. In navigating the rigors of professional sports, athletes like Jason have developed their rituals to manage injuries and maintain peak performance. “If you have an acute injury, you’re seeing the trainer to see if you need treatment on it or how bad it is,” Jason explained to the two hosts. “You might need an MRI or an x-ray to determine whether you’re okay.”
Dana asked, “Wait, is it true there used to be a bowl of Vicodins in the weight room?” Jason dispelled the myth. He said, “No, there used to be. They cracked down on that.” Vicodin, a medication commonly prescribed for pain relief, consists of a combination of acetaminophen and hydrocodone. Hydrocodone, one of its key components, is a semi-synthetic opioid classified as a Schedule II drug due to its potential for abuse and addiction. As such, it is typically prescribed with caution and under close medical supervision.
Jason then spoke about his personal favorites. “I was big into sauna, I was big into massage,” Jason recounted. He also liked lifting weights as it “naturally kind of pumps the blood in there.” And from Kelce’s recent endeavor, it seems that he might soon add “running” to the list.

Addressing his involvement after the event, the 36-year-old NFL star humorously responded to a social media post by Fox Sports 5, clarifying his activity level during the race. “‘Ran’ is a generous verb for what occurred,” Kelce quipped, alluding to his leisurely pace. However, he emphasized that despite the light-hearted approach, the experience was enjoyable.
