Nick Sirianni has a problem. He can’t control his emotions when it comes to interacting with the fan base. It happened last year, and it happened again when the Philadelphia Eagles beat the previously 1-4 Browns. The Eagles were 2-2 before the Browns game and were coming off a bye week. The chants coming from the stands at the Linc got Sirianni riled up.

He lashed out at the end of the game, reportedly, because he heard booing early in the game and chants about him getting fired. While fans and analysts have voiced their discontent with the head coach, the players on the roster stand by him. Apparently, Jason Kelce also tried to defend his coach.

“He’s passionate. He loves his guys, he loves his team, and you’re going to know that. I think you saw it, obviously he knows that that was not the right way to handle that situation. You just saw it there, and everybody knows that that was inappropriate, but this is a guy that knows that his energy is going to feed the football team, and the team said that in their post-season, in their post-game interviews,” Jason Kelce said on NFL on ESPN.

There’s a development in this situation as the fan Sirianni presumably yelled at made a Reddit post explaining the exchange. The fan advised Sirianni to “RUN THE BALL,” and the head coach reassured the fan they would. Later, when they won the game 20-16, Sirianni said to the fan, “I told you we would run! I told you!” However, the fan admitted they were paraphrasing his words.

The fan didn’t find Sirianni’s words offensive and didn’t feel berated. The Eagles roster has similar feelings for their head coach.

The Eagles have one of the most passionate fanbases in football, and the roster is equally passionate and supportive. That became clear when others, besides Jason Kelce, defended their head coach from the slander he’s been getting from the media. Brandon Graham, the longest-tenured Eagle in franchise history, had something to say about Sirianni.

“I told him to be him. I need him to be 2022 Nick. We want people to be themselves. Coach has been taking a bunch of heat, and I understand he got a lot of stuff on him,” Graham said. “We got his back. Because Philly can be hard — I know all about it. How I do it every day, I say, ‘They’re going to eat the words that they say.’ And Nick’s probably saying it, too. And every chance that you get, you let them know. That’s what I would do.”

The Eagles HC was emotional last year too when he beat the Kansas City Chiefs, and his famous audible, “I don’t hear sh-t anymore Chiefs fans!! See ya,” is still remembered to this day. Some referred to him as “insufferable,” or a “clown,” but the reality is, that his players stick by him, no matter what.

The Eagles head coach apologized for his outburst after the game. Per the HC, he was trying to bring “energy” and “enthusiasm” to the game, and it backfired on him. However, it turns out, that his outrage might not have been negative after all.
