As Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, takes on the Buffalo Bills, some of his biggest supporters are noticeably missing from the stands. That’s right! His brother, Jason Kelce, and girlfriend Taylor Swift aren’t at the Highmark Stadium today. While Jason Kelce missed the game to attend the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers game, Swift was most probably absent because it Eras tour schedule, and also because the superstar generally doesn’t attend the Chiefs’ away games.
Swift wrapped up three consecutive concerts at Toronto on November 16, with her next three shows in the city scheduled from November 21-23. Page Six had also reported last month how “[Taylor Swift] not going anywhere unless she knows the venue intimately and it has been thoroughly scouted and secured in advance.” Hence, it’s pretty unlikely that the 34-year-old will be anywhere but the Arrowhead Stadium, attending her beau’s games. This comes amid a foiled terror plot that forced the Grammy Award winner to cancel three sold-out shows in Vienna from August 8-10.
The suspect, a 19-year-old Austrian man, had reportedly become radicalized online and pledged his allegiance to the Islamic State terror group. Chemical substances and technical devices were discovered during a raid at the teenager’s home, and he had reportedly planned to attack Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium where 30,000 fans would be present. Notably, Taylor’s absence also comes amid the controversy from the Chiefs’ last game against the Denver Broncos. But we’ll talk about that after Jason Kelce’s adorable update…

The former NFL player shared a picture on Instagram with his kids sporting a Winnipeg Blue Bombers jerseys, to support the former Philadelphia Eagles player’s friend and old college roommate “Uncle” Zach Collaros. “Rooting for Uncle Zach tonight, Let’s Go Bombers! #winnipegbluebombers #greycup“, he captioned the adorable pictures.

As for the controversy, fans had noticed noticed that the referee for the game, Sarah Thomas, was seen Face Timing her family, along with Taylor. This sparked rumors and led fans to speculate that the Chiefs might be getting some help from the NFL to secure a 3-peat.
Not only that, but some fans are also getting frustrated with the extra attention she gets at the Chiefs games. They’re not thrilled about pop culture mixing with sports, and they feel like it’s taking the focus away from the game itself. With fans divided on whether they want her there or not, she remains the center of attention. Maybe that’s why so many people are curious to know why she missed this game. She had even skipped the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards to be at his last game. Another reason for her absence could also be the terrible experience at the Bills game last season.

Bills Mafia’s utter disrespectfulness towards Taylor
Sometimes fan groups can go way overboard, and Taylor Swift probably knows that all too well. She’s got her own passionate fanbase who can be just as intense. Back in January, Swift got a taste of how brutal Bills fans can be when she attended the Chiefs vs. Buffalo game. She was there to support Travis Kelce. But she couldn’t really enjoy the Chiefs’ 27-24 win because the Bills fans were pretty “ruthless” toward her. The whole atmosphere was a bit tense, and it definitely wasn’t the warm welcome she was expecting.
At one point, a group of Bills fans even went as far as taking a cutout of Taylor Swift’s face and tossing it into a fire during a tailgate. During that game, one Bills fan shouted “Bills by a million” at her as she made her way into the stadium. Travis Kelce addressed the incident later during a conversation with his brother, Jason Kelce, on their New Heights podcast. He opened up about how the Bills fans were being “hateful” towards Swift and the Chiefs. “There was a lot of hate pulling up to that stadium, man”, Kelce said.

Bills fans were not only showing hate towards the pop star but were also targeting Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs’ QB. Outside Highmark Stadium, fans took things to an extreme when they hung a Kermit the Frog puppet dressed in a Patrick Mahomes jersey and wig from a pole. “Some pretty inappropriate things were said about Pat Mahomes, it was pretty whack”, said Kelce on the podcast.
After knowing all this, hopefully Taylor will be there during the Chiefs’ next home game in Week 13 against the Las Vegas Raiders. What’s your prediction?
