The 2024 NFL Pro Bowl roster is out. There might be quite a few surprises in the list, but Eagles’ star center Jason Kelce is one of the more expected inductees. Kelce earned 7th Pro Bowl of his 12-year-long NFL career on Wednesday. Although, it was not without the niggles, according to the center. Kelce was grateful to his teammates and coach for the honor.

The Eagles have already clinched a playoff spot in their Super Bowl-ambitious season. However, the latter part remains uncertain going into the week 18. Courtesy of a late fallout, the Birds have to wait for the final week results to find out who they get matched against in the wild-card round.

Kelce was drafted by the Eagles in 2011, and since has stood as the backbone of the team. He’s naturally the team’s leader, being their oldest active player at 36. Even in the current season where the defense has let things loose on multiple occasions, Kelce’s play has caught eyes and kept the side on track. Recognizing his efforts, he has been named for his 7th career Pro Bowl ahead of week 18.

But Kelce knows what’s up and acknowledges it’s not always what it seems. Therefore, he thanked his teammates first before celebrating the glory. “To be great as an offensive lineman it really requires having a really good unit and a good group”. The center cleared everything in the beginning. “I’ve been fortunate to play next to a lot of really, really good players that mask my weaknesses and make me look very good, and let me do the things that I excel at”, he further thanked his teammates who held his back when everything wasn’t functioning properly for him.

And the credit goes out to the coaches as well. Kelce praised his run game coordinator and offensive line coach, Jeff Stoutland, for his valuable impact. In a season where things easily could have gone completely different, the coaching staff indeed deserve compliments.

“Jeff Stoutland has had so many players make the Pro Bowl and for consecutive years, he’s a fantastic coach”, Kelce acknowledged the coach’s contribution in their nomination. “And for all five of us to at least be alternates or in, it really speaks to the level of coach that he is and what he gets out of his players“, he further gave credit where it was due.

But celebration time will be soon over for them. Nick Sirianni’s men need to brace up for the Giants, and then the postseason. Things have been unnecessarily complicated and they can’t blame no one else for a comparatively tougher Super Bowl route. The Eagles are likely to end as the #5 seed in the NFC and the NFC East runner-up, which would match them against the NFC South champions. As things stand, the Buccaneers are topping the group.

The Bucs on paper are still manageable for the Birds. But what about afterward? The Eagles are still unsure.
