The Kelce brothers, Jason and Travis, are back in the spotlight with their electrifying live podcast, “New Heights.” And this time, they’ve got an unexpected hype man: Cincinnati’s own Mayor Aftab Pureval. The mayor, affectionately dubbed a “jabroni” by Travis Kelce, kicked off the inaugural session of the show at the University of Cincinnati’s Fifth Third Arena.

Mayor Pureval made it clear in a video message screened on the big screen for the packed arena, We’re not calling it Kelce Day, and we’re definitely not calling it Kelce Head Arena”. The city of Cincinnati was buzzing with excitement as the Kelce brothers returned to town, at least until the Chiefs clashed with the Bengals.

The term “jabroni” is a playful slang often associated with wrestling and popularized by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. But there is an interesting history to this playful jab by the mayor which was first used back in 2023.

So, fans, heeded the mayor’s advice, “Don’t be a jabroni. Know your role, make some noise, and let’s welcome “New Heights Live” With a grand entrance! Kelce, microphone in hand, summed it up perfectly: “Man, we’ve got fire, smoke, and pizza tables in the party!”.

Mayor Pureval introduced the Kelce brothers, setting the stage for what promises to be an entertaining and fan-centric experience.

Why the playful “jabroni” reference at Travis?

But let’s rewind a bit: Well, it all started during the 2023 AFC championship game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs. Mayor Pureval playfully renamed KC’s Arrowhead Stadium as “Burrowhead Stadium,” a nod to Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.

The Chiefs defended their home turf and Travis Kelce responded with a memorable post-game quip: “Burrowhead my a**!” He then playfully advised the mayor to “know your role and shut your mouth, ya jabroni,” channeling his inner Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
