You know how celebrations can get a little wild in the NFL. Some are flashy, some are clever, and then some push the boundaries a little too far. For Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams, the spotlight turned to his celebratory antics after a touchdown. While some players might pump their fists or flash a peace sign, Williams took a different approach. Now, his teammates quickly stepped in to lift him, trying to diffuse the situation, but the damage was done. It didn’t take long for fans and cameras to catch on before they cut the broadcast from Williams. Interestingly, Williams seems to have been following in the footsteps of a certain teammate who is also known for his bold moves on the field… but this one? It may have crossed a line.

Jameson Williams brought the crowd to its feet with a 61-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter of the Lions’ Divisional game. But he wasn’t done with just flipping into the end zone to finish the run. After scoring, the WR took things a bit too far with his celebration, thrusting his hips in a way that might not sit well on TV. His teammates, including Jahmyr Gibbs, quickly stepped in and lifted him to try and tone it down. But the camera had already caught it. Now, what are the chances of Jameson hitting the NFL fine book?

As per the popular X account, ML Football, JAMESON WILLIAMS MAY RECEIVE THE BIGGEST FINE IN #NFL HISTORY.” To your surprise, this wouldn’t be the first time the 23-year-old could end up with a fine for obscenity. Back in week 11, Williams had quite the memorable celebration after hauling in a 64-yard touchdown against the Jaguars in a 52-6 blowout. The WR dropped back into the end zone and grabbed his crotch. And paid tribute to Marshawn Lynch’s iconic ‘Beast Quake’ touchdown run from the 2010 NFC Wild Card round. That move landed him a fine of $19,697 for obscene gestures.

The Lions players seem to have a history of obscene celebrations. Last season, WR Amon-Ra St. Brown was also in hot water for such celebrations.

Jameson Williams walks the same path as Amon-Ra St. Brown

Last season, Detroit Lions star WR Amon-Ra St. Brown found himself in a bit of hot water after scoring his first touchdown of the 2023 campaign during the season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs. After leaving three defenders in his dust and reaching the end zone, St. Brown was feeling himself, literally. The 25-year-old pulled off a celebratory air hump, making sure the whole world knew just how hyped he was about that score. While the celebration certainly turned heads, it somehow didn’t land the WR any fines. It was a lucky day for Amon-Ra, as the NFL didn’t come knocking with a penalty for that particular gesture.

Now, fast forward to Jameson Williams, who might have some déjà vu here. The Alabama recruit seemed to walk the same path, performing a similar ‘in-your-face’ celebration after his touchdown. Fans can’t help but wonder if Jameson will get off scot-free like St. Brown did, or if the NFL will crack down on him for his antics.

And it’s not just the current stars causing waves. Before St. Brown, there was Jamaal Williams (now with the Saints), who also had a thing for hip-thrusting celebrations. After one particularly memorable touchdown against the Vikings, the NFL hit Jamaal with a fine for his antics. Seems like Detroit players just can’t help themselves when it comes to turning heads with their celebrations. Let’s see if Jameson’s celebration follows the same fate or if the NFL decides to make an example of him.

Anyway, in the end, it was a bitter pill for the Lions to swallow. Despite some flashy plays and celebrations, the Commanders beat them at their own game. Motor City’s Super Bowl dreams were dashed once again. It’s back to the drawing board for Detroit, hoping next season brings better luck and celebrations.
