Will Ja'Marr Chase's $50M spending habits hurt the Bengals' chances of keeping him long-term?

Ja’Marr Chase is taking precautions before his contract with the Cincinnati Bengals runs out and it goes to show that he is not happy with his situation. The Bengals are not having the best run this season and their athletes are fighting their own battles on the side. Chase, for example, is tackling the end of his contract with his team and appears to be having some serious negotiation troubles.

The wide receiver did not seem happy with his contract with the Bengals; probably why he didn’t sign an extension with them this year. But Chase isn’t sleeping on his future either. As a result, he took up insurance that will ‘ensure’ he grabs as many bucks as he can.

Reports are flying left and right that Ja’Marr Chase has bought insurance for himself that will safeguard him from dropping his value during the upcoming drafts. Although it is still far away, the WR is playing it safe by making sure that he doesn’t sustain a big injury by the end of this season.

Sportscaster Tyler Webb posted a long thread on X where he gave us a look into the $50M “Loss of Value” insurance policy that Chase has reportedly bought for himself. He is paying around $500,000 just for this year alone which equals around $31,250 per game.

Chase isn’t alone, Webb revealed that dozens of NFL players buy this policy to ensure that they receive the millions of amount that they would have received if they were perfectly healthy during the draft. The insurance is just there to ensure that Ja’Marr doesn’t lose his value after an injury. But we get the insight that Chase’s contract situation with the Bengals is not ideal.

But how is all of it really coming along?

Ja’Marr Chase’s relationship with the Bengals may be ending soon

As speculated, the NFL star has no intentions of sticking with Cincinnati. There was a report a few days back regarding his insurance that pointed towards the fact that Ja’Marr Chase may be flying off to play for a different team the first chance he gets. In such a scenario, it would become increasingly essential for him to secure his value in case of any injuries. So, if you wanted to see him play a few more years for the Bengals, you may be out of look because the Underdog NFL clearly reported that might not happen at all.

Lucky for Cincinnati fans, the season has just started and they will still get to catch Chase in action for the rest of the weeks. On a side note, things are not looking good for this AFC North team as they move into their third game of the season with a 0-2 trail. The Bengals’ offense hasn’t received much criticism from the viewers, but losing a good wide receiver may be a major setback for them next year. Will the team end up accepting Chase’s end of the bargain?

Well, the real question is, will Ja’Marr Chase be up for that negotiation at the time?
