The message the whole week was to do our job and it doesn’t have to be close. We knew if we come out and execute, we would dominate this game.Jalen Hurts’s team was coming out last week for the Super Bowl game in confidence. And as the cornerback, Quinyon Mitchell revealed, they did exactly that in the 2024 season finale. The result? The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the reigning champions Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, February 9. But for Mitchell, it’s a double celebration week.

Mitchell had an outstanding rookie season. Not just compared to other rookies but across the entire league. Playing as an outside cornerback opposite Darius Slay, he proved to be one of the best defensive backs in the NFL. His talent was even visible in Super Bowl LIX, where he showed his tackle speed, making three tackles in the game. His efforts helped the team in Super Bowl victory, and the result? He received shoutouts from the U.S. House Floor.

On Tuesday afternoon, Ohio representative and Congresswoman Rep. Marcy Kaptur took some time out to recognize the University of Toledo Rocket alumni. As shared by her on X, Kaptur said, “Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize and celebrate achievements of Quinyon Mitchell, a proud University of Toledo Rocket, and now a Super Bowl champion with the Philadelphia Eagles.” That’s a great honor.

The speaker also shared a photo of Jalen Hurts’s rookie teammate behind her in a poster. Along with this, she continued with her proud message, “Last year I stood before you and said that Quinyon Mitchell would make Northwest Ohio proud on the national stage. And he has done exactly that, helping lead the Eagles to victory in Super Bowl LIX. His dedication, discipline, and talent have set him apart, earning him respect across the league as a key player of one of the NFL’s top defenses.

In addition, Kaptur also extended special recognition to Toledo Football Rockets Alumni, Dallas Gant. She sent a message to Quinyon Mitchell, saying, “Congratulations on your Championship victory, you made us all proud.” Not that’s pretty cool for sure! No doubt, the CB did a fantastic job in the season. He finished off his rookie tenure by forcing two turnovers and tallying 14 total tackles in the playoffs. That’s why the Eagles nation, QB Jalen Hurts, and Kaptur are proud of him – especially when he did what was expected from him since his NFL birth.

Jalen Hurts and Darius Slay’s weapon slayed it!

Eagles star cornerback Darius Slay revealed that their defensive coordinator Vic Fangio sat them down for a meeting. The purpose was how to turn around the 2024 season in favor of them. And they ended up drafting Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, who helped Philly clinch their second Lombardi in the league. But Congresswoman Rep. Marcy Kaptur already knew 10 months ago that Mitchell would be a great asset to the franchise.
