In Dallas, the Cowboys run on Jerry Jones’ vision. It’s been that way for decades. The owner calls the shots, the players fall in line, and the fans—well, they wait. They’ve been waiting for nearly 30 years for a return to Super Bowl glory. Every offseason, hope rises, but the weight of expectations and frustration inside the locker room is becoming impossible to ignore.

Micah Parsons, the Cowboys’ defensive powerhouse, isn’t one to sit back and wait. He’s bold, vocal, and tired of watching Dallas tread water. His recent call for Jones to get aggressive in free agency and the draft shook the team’s carefully controlled hierarchy. And as contract talks loom, the whispers about Parsons’ future are getting louder—especially after a certain Eagles star hinted at an unexpected twist.

Other NFL players always have an eye on America’s Team. Jerry Jones is rich. Despite all the failures, he made them the world’s first $10 billion valuation sports franchise. For 9 straight years, they have been the most valued team. But whenever Jalen Hurts‘ teammates speak, we have to take notice. They are the champions. They are the giant killers, breaking the Chiefs‘ streak by winning Super Bowl LIX. So, when the Birds WR AJ Brown said on the February 23 episode of the Million Dollaz Worth Of Game, “I think Micah (Parsons) wants to be a Eagle,” we take it seriously!

But will it really happen? Jerry Jones’ son, Stephen Jones, shot down such rumors claiming they are ready and prepared to enter negotiations with the linebacker. So, it’s confirmed! They will be sitting at the negotiating table soon, trying to keep Micah Parsons in Dallas beyond his rookie contract and year-extension. Given Jerry Jones’ history of creating roadblocks out of thin air, will they close it in time? That’s the big question. Stephen refused to give the exact timeline of the discussion. A few days ago, he said, “I don’t know the exact timing of that, so I don’t want to get out over my skis there.” But he did add “Oh yes” about definitely sitting down at the table.

Last year, the Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb refused to practice and play in the preseason games until he got a new contract just before the season. In 2025, LB Micah Parsons will make $24 million, from his 5th year option. However, the franchise has to balance their finances reeling from the lucrative deals to Lamb and QB Dak Prescott.

Times are tough. But Stephen Jones has already hinted that they will restructure the signal caller’s contract as they have already done before. Other franchises that covet Parsons are keeping a close eye on developments.

Cowboys take bold steps to make space for Micah Parsons

While AJ Brown has opened the Philly doors wide open for the LB, Dallas would desperately want to keep him. Rarely comes a talent in the league that has 52.5 sacks in his first 4 seasons. Not to forget the huge potential he has, given his young age of 25 years. They have one major advantage over the Eagles at this point: wiggle room on their salary cap space. So, they went back to their leader.

To make space in the $89.8 million cap hit, the highest in the league, they restructured Prescott’s $42 million guaranteed salary of 2025 into the signing bonus. That would give them some money in hand to negotiate with Parsons. With teams like the Raiders and Bills already in the race, Micah Parsons will be settling for nothing less than a hefty deal.

While the entire league is busy looking at options for the LB, he is busy helping his community. A few days back, he announced a youth football camp to be held next month on 15th March. He is trying to keep himself busy, not trying to give air to the ongoing scenarios. But if more teams join the fray and reveal their options, things could heat up pretty easily.
