“It’s gonna look how Jalen Hurts wants it to look,” the Philadelphia Eagles QB said, addressing the question about flailing offense and passing game scrutiny. Things have been topsy-turvy in the Eagles locker room recently with the DE Brandon Graham airing the team’s dirty laundry. Apparently, the supposed beef between Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown had no substance.

The thing that did have substance, though, is that Eagles receivers were frustrated with Philly’s passing game and they didn’t hold back when addressing it. These problems surfaced after the Eagles somehow managed to win against the Carolina Panthers with just 83 passing yards. But that doesn’t matter to the QB because, in the end, it was always about winning games.

Hurts did a presser ahead of the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and talked about the passing game issue without really addressing it. The QB finished 14-of-21 for 108 yards with a pair of touchdowns against the Panthers and that caused a lot of commotion. AJ Brown didn’t get the ball till the end of the second quarter despite being open on multiple occasions and slammed his helmet on the sidelines because of the frustration. He uttered what made him frustrated, “Passing.” But Jalen Hurts addressed everything tonight.

“I’ve submitted myself to whatever it takes to win. You look at the course of the years, and we’ve had different conversations about who the most valuable player is and the recognition and whatever, and it’s all about the team. But you see different areas shining in different years. It’s about the team,” Hurts said in a recent media appearance.

Yes, Philly struggled with a lack of passing. But at the same time, they rushed for 209 yards, with Hurts also scoring a rushing touchdown. So, his admitting the team has “different areas shining” makes sense. Saquon Barkley leads the league in carries and rushing yards and that’s what is serving the Eagles, undoubtedly. Still, that doesn’t matter to the QB anymore.

I don’t care how it looks. It’s my game and I think that’s what some people have to accept. It’s going to look how Jalen Hurts wants it to look, but he’s gonna win,” the Philly QB expanded. When the rumors about a scuffle between Brown and Hurts surfaced, many thought that the wideout was taking shots at his QB. But that couldn’t be far from the truth. Because, just like AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith also thought there were some discrepancies in the passing game. And people didn’t make it out to be hostile.

“I think we can do a lot better,” said DeVonta Smith. “Pass game we can be a lot better … We didn’t play up to our standard.” Now that we’ve established the point, let’s talk about the current affairs of Philly’s locker room. Apparently, Brandon Graham had to eat his own words and everything is fine between Brown and Hurts.

Jalen Hurts gets real about Brandon Graham

“They were friends before this, but it’s like, man, things have changed.” This statement from Brandon Graham was enough to spark curiosity among Philly fans and in the NFL in general. He essentially said that AJ Brown could do better with how he responds to things around him (aka Jalen Hurts). The QB might have had a chat with BG and he clarified his stance on him.

“We’re good. …We’ve spoken. In the end, BG knows he spoke out of place. …It’s about the team in the end. I think, overall, that’s where my focus is. I think that’s where everyone’s focus is at heart. …Whenever something happens, I look at myself first. Because everything starts and ends with me,” Hurts said of Brandon Graham. In the end, the whole beef turned out to be a big, nothing burger. Or at least that’s how the Philly locker room is portraying it.

Hurts later clarified that Brown was indeed hurt by the lack of reps he was getting. There’s an unspoken bond between the quarterback and his receiver and Jalen would like to keep that relationship going. “Sometimes things change as dynamics change. But for him, he knows I have a lot of love for him — just like I got a lot of love for all these guys,” Hurts told reporters.

But AJ Brown has a competitive spirit and he gets upset when he doesn’t get the ball. To Jalen Hurts, that’s how things are. “Ultimately, he’s a guy that’s a competitor. He wants to win. He d–n sure wants the ball. And he wants to make an impact in the game. And I respect that.”

Now that this “beef” chapter has closed, Philly has a lot to do before they host the 10-3 Pittsburgh Steelers at home. With Russell Wilson at quarterback, the Steelers have lost only 1 of their last 8 games. Clearly, Hurts and the boys have their work cut out for them. There’s no time for locker room shenanigans because the playoffs are just around the corner.
