What’s wrong with the past season’s title challengers in the NFL? A late-season collapse shook both the Chiefs and the Eagles, the reigning champions and the Runner ups, respectively. And they can’t find a way out even at week 18, as the latter succumbed to a new low in the hands of the Giants.

While the Chiefs escaped a narrow defeat at the hands of the Chargers, the Eagles saw their worst loss of the season right before the playoffs. Although QB Jalen Hurts addressed the loss with a few motivational words, is that enough to drag them out of the depths?

Talking to the post-game conference, the QB took the philosophical way. “It’s about weathering the storm. It’s about not riding waves. Never getting too high, never getting too low. Keeping the main thing the main thing”, Hurts insisted bad times keep coming, and they have to move through it.

Further, he talked about how the mentality should be, given that opportunities don’t come often. “All you need is a crumb, an opportunity. It’s simply win or go home. Nothing prior to this matters.” But the problem with the Eagles is they are inching closer to the second route of going home, with every passing week.

The Eagles are only the second NFL side ever to finish a season without the 12-win mark despite going 10-1. The first team was another New York side – The Jets, who ‘achieved’ this feat in 1985. For the Eagles, a sudden injury hit shook the roster who lost their final five games of the season.

However, for the Eagles, it all started with the 49ers who came and conquered the Lincoln Financial Field, claiming revenge for the past season’s NFC Championship game. The Eagles never really recovered from the humiliating loss and went on a losing spree.

5 weeks later, did the Giants put the final nail in the coffin for Nick Sirianni‘s side? The Giants are known as the heartbreakers of the NFL, credited with some of the biggest upsets in the league’s history. Now with a 17-point victory right at the doorstep of the postseason, they might have broken the Eagles’ mind as well.
