“We’re going to continue to turn over every stone with our defense and with every other part of our team, too, to get as good as we can get it over the course of a long season.” John Harbaugh was determined enough last year to boost his defense. Although he and his Baltimore Ravens couldn’t get the proper answer in the season, this offseason surely allowed them to work on it. And they did!
John Harbaugh has reportedly shown his interest in the Los Angeles Rams’ free agent. According to Senior NFL insider Dianna Russini on X, “Rams LB and special teams ace Jake Hummel heads to the Ravens on a 1-year deal, per source.”
Hummel was with Sean McVay and the team for a long time. The Rams drafted him in 2022, and let us remind you that this is the first time this linebacker has hit the free agency market. But now, Hummel finds his new home in John Harbaugh’s team, the Ravens.

Jake Hummel’s performance? Well, Hummel has played 117 defensive snaps and 827 on special teams. In the last season, he totaled 17 tackles in 17 games. And if we talk about his three-year stint with the Rams, the linebacker totaled 31 tackles.
Moreover, Jake Hummel is the player who has played in all 17 games for two consecutive seasons remaining injury-free. He was also the player who made eight special teams tackles and even blocked a punt against the Bills that eventually led to a TD. So, getting him could be a great addition for John Harbaugh, especially when there is a new void in their defense.
John Harbaugh’s Ravens star Michael Pierce is done with the NFL?
Ravens‘ defensive tackle Michael Pierce has announced his retirement after a nine-season career with the team. He was an undrafted free agent in 2016, on whom Baltimore showed their belief. And the result–he became one of the best nose tackles, known for his run-stopping prowess. Hence, John Harbaugh’s star has something to say to his home and to all the people who supported him in his journey.
What’s your perspective on:
Will Jake Hummel be the game-changer the Ravens need to dominate defensively this season?

In his farewell note on a podcast, Michael Pierce said, “After nine seasons, after much prayer, talking to my family, just going through the grind, man, and just being satisfied with there I am, looking forward to doing other things in life, I just decided to call it a career. It’s been a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful nine years.” Besides that, he didn’t miss a chance to thank everyone around him.

Pierce expressed, “They gave me a chance when not many people were willing to take a chance on me.” He even thanked former Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome, former defensive line coach Joe Cullen, and “big brothers” Terrell Suggs and Brandon Williams, who helped and mentored him during his stint with John Harbaugh’s team.

On one hand, Pierce is happy with whatever he has achieved. On the other hand, his fans are upset to not see him completing his century. According to the reports, John Harbaugh’s DT has played 99 games in his career. He finished off these games with 238 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles. And guess what? He just had one interception, something which occurred in his last season. Fateful! No doubt, this man will be missed.
