Does Joe Burrow's 'kid in a candy store' vibe spell success for the Bengals this season?

Jake Browning is complaining and his light-hearted jab is toward none other than Joe Burrow! Undoubtedly, Cincinnati Bengals players are gearing up for the rigors of the season with perfect coordination and teamwork. During the Bengals’ preseason training camp, which started on July 23, Joe Burrow created a buzz with his eye-catching bleached-blond haircut. His return to the gridiron after injury is nothing short of a perfect touchdown experience for his fans. But before the 27-year-old starting QB can take over the gridiron once again, a sarcastic complaint has found its way to Burrow’s comment section.

It is from the Bengals 28-year-old QB Browning. Joe Burrow shared glimpses of the training camp on his Instagram account. This led to speculation about the bonding between the QBs as they aim for the Vince Lombardi Trophy this year. Joe Burrow, the Heisman Trophy winner in 2020, took to his official IG account to share jaw-dropping snaps from preseason drills. He shared multiple pictures with his teammates, Jake Browning, Logan Woodside, and many others. “Kid in a candy store,” Burrow mentioned in his post caption.

However, while the pictures showcased chemistry between the players, Burrow somehow forgot to tag his teammates. And Browning wasn’t the one to let this action just pass by. He, soon after, took to the comment section to make a humorous remark. “Damn, what we gotta do to get a tag around here @doubleunologs_,” he mockingly commented. Showcasing the light and good-natured Bengals atmosphere.

The recent post featured Burrow’s new iconic look in which he had changed his hair color, instantly catching the enormous attention of the fans. In one of the pictures, Joe could be seen trying to put his arms in the correct position as he recently came back after undergoing surgery to treat a torn ligament in his right wrist. He could be seen getting better knuckle pressure to pitch the ball backward to a fullback in the passing game.

However, the Bengals’ star QB didn’t throw during the third day of the training camp at Kettering Health Practice Fields, 200 W Mehring Way, Cincinnati, so his backup QB, Jake Browning, picked up QB drills with the first team. “I’m going into my 6 year and it’s the first time I have some job security,” he reiterated. “That’s kind of nice, but part of the reason I think I improved a lot was you keep yourself right on that edge.”

Despite this slight jab toward the starting QB, Burrow and Jake Browning have shared a healthy relationship. Often complimenting, supporting, and helping the other individual improve.

Joe Burrow had to stay away from the final seven games of the 2023 season because of his right wrist injury. The Bengals secured a mark of 4-3 in Browning’s seven starts, but, nonetheless, they missed out on the postseason securing a 9-8 overall record. After making his return, Burrow spoke about his good relationship with his QB in an interview.

“He’s very even-keeled. No moment is too big for him,” Burrow said on November 17, 2023, to media personnel outside the lockroom. “He went in on Thursday Night Football, on a short week, without having practiced and played well.  He’s a guy that’s going to continue to get better and no moment is too big for him.”

During a discussion with SiriusXM NFL Radio in June, Browning spilled the beans about how his experience in 2023 could make him a stronger backup for Burrow. Browning acknowledged his extensive learning experience in the company of Burrow, adding, “Joe and I have a really good relationship, I think, obviously, [I’ve] learned a lot from him playing and I’d like to think maybe — I know for myself, I did what he did in the NFL in college, where I showed up and I didn’t watch anyone else play.

Presenting an affirmative stance, he continued, “Obviously, he’s an unbelievable player, right? He’s one of the best in the NFL and no one’s going to debate that,” with conviction. Browning is highly appreciative of Burrow’s experience of starting to play immediately, without watching others.

Browning also highlighted the mutual learning experience between the duo, remarking, “But I’ve got some strengths, too, where I’m sure there are different things where he’s like, oh, OK, that’s how you did this.

The two QBs have exchanged their playing experiences and techniques. “And there’s those conversations that — I was always helpful before, but there’s a whole ‘nother [level] of, hey, I’ve been in this offense and I’ve had to be the trigger guy. So when he has some concern or something, I can relate and we can have that conversation. So I think that’s been really good.”

Now, as the duo aims for the Vince Lombardi Trophy this season, their relationship dynamics will indeed work in the favor of the Cincinnati Bengals. The fans will be anticipating a comeback and a signature statement from their favorites.
