History repeated itself once again after 12 years, on MNF! The Jacksonville Jaguars did their best, but the Cincinnati Bengals got the best out of them. From playing a handful of games this season, Jake Browning came to dominate the Jags in their own home. Also, Ja’Marr Chase proved his mettle in a game that went to OT.
A couple of posts from NFL and Pro Football Focus give us the bigger picture of the game and just how well the Bengals tackled the fight against the Jags in the absence of their QB1 Joe Burrow. The Bengals are 6-6 now and it looks like Browning is here to stay. He made it look easy tonight with a near-flawless performance.

This game marks Browning’s first win as an NFL starter QB. He passed for a total of 354 yards, and made 32 of his 37 passes. This is not it, he also had a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown as well. The completion rate of 86.5% is his best performance to date. Now that he has established his presence in the league, the Bengals are ahead in the playoff conversation in their respective seed.

Also, to give credit where it’s due, Ja’Marr Chase did a phenomenal job today with 11 receptions over 149 yards and went for a touchdown as well. The Jags performed pretty consistently till the last quarter as they managed to score 31 points. However, the Jacksonville team piled up a lot of injuries by that point to be able to fight back.

The Bengals kept neck-to-neck with the Jaguars and the game tied to 31 in the 4 quarter. Alas, Jake Browning and Ja’Marr Chase beat them to their own game. Chase caught a 76-yard TD pass from Browning, mocked the defender and hit the griddy after scoring a touchdown. The Jags were leading till the 4 quarter, but the Bengals decided to get their act together when Chase caught the pass for first and goal after which Jake Browning sneaked the ball into the red zone and tied the game.

The game was overturned in the 4 quarter when Trevor Lawrence was shoved to the ground and suffered an ankle injury. He was seen walking out with two trainers. This was the 3 major injury in a single game. First, it was Christian Kirk with the groin injury, replaced by the rookie Parker Washington. Then it was Tre Herndon with a concussion.
It became worse when Brandon McManus missed the field goal that could have saved the Jags. With 26 seconds left in the 4 quarter, the Jacksonville team decided to tie the game with a field goal and the game went to OT. After a brief scuffle, Evan McPherson took the final kick and took the W.
