The Green Bay Packers were facing off their wildcard game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Before this game, during practice this week, Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander sprained his ankle. And now when he was into the game, he just aggravated his injury trouble.
During the Packers jog-through on Wednesday, Alexander mistakenly stepped on a teammate’s foot and injured his left ankle. Coach Matt LaFleur called the injury a “freak deal” on Thursday and informed the media that Alexander is doing everything to remain active for the wildcard game. But a new injury report has caused great fear and trouble for both the player and the team.

After hurting his ankle during the practice, the Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander had a limited participation on Wednesday and no participation on Thursday and Friday sessions. However, he still became active for the Cowboys’ wildcard game at Milwaukee County Stadium. Now, the recent update is not good for Packers’ fans.

During the Sunday game, Alexander injured himself again on the field. The 26-year-old made a tackle on Cowboys WR Brandin Cooks when about only five minutes were left in the third quarter. According to the reports, he was seen grabbing his ankle “in a lot of pain.” The athlete immediately received medical attention on the field.
However, after some time he was able to walk to the sideline on his own strength. Alexander subsequently went to the blue tent for further evaluation.
What’s next for Jaire Alexander?
After entering the blue tent for further evaluation, the Packers officially released a statement saying that his return is now questionable. So, it was clear that he wasn’t going to return to the field for the rest of his game. In his place, Corey Ballentine came up to group with Carrington Valentine and KeiSean Nixon.

Before the departure, Alexander “allowed 3 catches for 31 yards on four targets, and played 51 defensive snaps.” Alexander had his injury-ridden season this time, as before these injuries, he also dealt with a back injury last year. This injury kept him out in most of the games, allowing him to appear in just seven regular games of the season.

Meanwhile, in the latest game, the Packers were ahead of the Cowboys 41-16 in the third quarter after his departure. So, he got a perfect time to relax for the rest of Sunday’s game. As per the final result, the Green team will now march for their next weekend’s divisional round after defeating Dallas 32-48.
