The season 2024 was another bad one for the Jacksonville Jaguars. They ended with a record of 4-13. With a hope to repeat their season 2022 performance this year, Shad Khan appointed Liam Coen as their head coach. But this is just the beginning of changing the team’s dynamics. And the Jaguars have exposed their next move.
After Trent Baalke removed his belongings from the Jaguars headquarters on January 22, 2025, owner Shad Khan’s GM search has been in full swing. The Jaguars are in a full reboot mode. The hiring of Liam Coen has signified a fresh start for them. Not just that. They have altered the work culture as well. The HC and GM will now communicate directly to Shad Khan instead of their immediate bosses. Moreover, Khan has hired Tony Boselli as the executive vice president for football operations. Great, right? And after the new HC, the Jaguars will add one more name.
The latest update from Jacksonville is about their GM candidates, whom they’ll interview from Wednesday. As per their X post on Feb 15, they have shortlisted five candidates for the post. First name is Ian Cunningham, who has been an AGM for the Chicago Bears from 2022 to 2024. And guess what? He is a two-time Super Bowl champion for SB XLVII and LII. Cunningham has also worked for the two-time Super Bowl champion, the Philadelphia Eagles. He has also been interviewed by the Commanders, Chargers, Titans, and the Cardinals.

Other than Cunningham, James Gladstone will be giving an interview for the GM job. He has spent eight seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, taking them to the Super Bowl twice (and winning it once: Super Bowl LVI). Talking about Gladstone, the Rams website says, “In his role, he works directly with General Manager Les Snead in strategic planning and execution of day-to-day scouting processes. Additionally, he is responsible for scouting current and prospective players and providing frequent analysis on special projects.” For the past four seasons, Gladstone has been a director of scouting for the Rams.
The third name in the list is Jon-Eric Sullivan. Sullivan has been with the Green Bay Packers since 2003, transforming from a training camp intern to a football operations department employee, Central Plains region scout, director of college scouting, co-director of player personnel, and finally vice president of player personnel (promoted in July 2022). During his tenure, the Packers won Super Bowl XLV and made the playoffs 16 times.
Well, the fourth name on the list is Ethan Waugh, who has already been with the Jaguars as an assistant general manager (AGM) for almost three years, per LinkedIn. Before taking the job, Waugh was a scout for the 49ers for 18 years. Now, he may be waiting for a promotion in Jacksonville. According to Jaguars Wire, Waugh is considered a strong candidate.
Apart from Waugh, the first candidate set to have an in-person interview for the Jaguars’ GM position is Josh Williams. The director of scouting has been with the 49ers organization for 14 years in various roles. For now, he will be participating in the interview process for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ GM position.
But apart from this update, the Jaguars have shown interest in one important person from the Las Vegas Raiders organization. Wanna know the person and update? Let’s dive in!

Well, apart from the Jaguars’ list of five important candidates, Champ Kelly is considered a top candidate for the position. He has been working with Tom Brady’s Raiders for three seasons now as an assistant general manager. Anthony “Champ” Kelly has been in the NFL since 2007. From 2007 to 2024, he has worked with three NFL franchises.

Kelly began his NFL career as a college scout for the Denver Broncos in 2007 and later served as an assistant coordinator of professional and college scouting for the next two years. From 2010 to 2014, he worked as the Broncos’ assistant director of pro personnel. After spending several years with the organization, Kelly moved on and joined the Chicago Bears in 2017, following his tenure as the Broncos’ director of pro scouting.
With the Bears, he served as assistant director of player personnel from 2017 to 2021 before taking a job with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022. At the Raiders, he has held two positions—interim GM and assistant GM.
